Miranda, both sets are fabulous! I love this technique;

I'm sorely tempted to SEND you a design wall just to see how dangerous you can be! :mrgreen:

Oh, that quilt is so pretty. I just have to sit down and try this technique after this week.

Love all the design layouts. Sorta reminds me of what you can do with the Log Cabin blocks.

Very versatile and a good way to use up fabrics.

I need help. I think I am just stupid that I'm having a problem with this tube. Somehow I do something wrong when I make my first cut, it turns out real small, I think the other cuts are ok?? not sure. What is the size of this square. This is such a great idea, would like to make a table runner using 3 blocks. Am I correct in my thinking that you need to cut out 2 blocks before you can do any of the neat placement of pieces? Please someone help this stupid person. And the size of the 4 squares put together. Thanks

I understand we are cutting 2 l/2 " strips then sewing two strips together then cutting 5 " squares off the strips then put 4- together to make a blk. Am i right ? i noticed some sewed a 5-1/2" strip on one side instead of two-2 1/2" strips made a very pretty blk. lots of ways to use these like the log cabin pattern lots of choices. have fun don't let itupset you very pretty quilts.

The first section you cut off will be smaller, because it isn't a true HST ... might be a quarter square triangle ...
You need to cut four times in order to have enought HST to make a complete block.
you are not stupid ... you just aren't sure if what you are doing is correct.
The size of the square depends on how wide your third strip is - - your third strip is equal to the size of the two strips.
If you sew two strips at 2.5" together, then it will measure 4.5"
add the third strip, do the cuts - - and the measurement will be 4.5" minus 7/8 of an inch ... I think <g>
