My DH cut me a Tumbler template from a piece of plexiglass and has been bugging me to try it to see if it works!
So I started making this quilt last night. I told him apparently he "did good" because my seams matched up!

Still have a long ways to go on this one. The fabrics are "Simplicity" by Moda

the fabrics are wonderful. i have a top about that size too with tumblers. used some lovely charms. I guess it will become the center of a quilt.

looks great. I have wanted to make one with a larger tumbler template then I have. I have a template for a one inch and then I tried increasing the size I finally have a 3 inch I think. I am hoping to find a precut plastic template, before i begin with the one i have.

Beautiful. Love your fabrics and looking forward to seeing your quilt progress. How large are your tumbler blocks? The reason I ask, I saw a tutorial on Missouri Quilt Co. today where they had made a tumbler template to use with the 5" charms. There was very little waste of the 5" square. Would a tumbler that size be fairly large?

That's the size DH made for me.
It's really only the size of a 5" charm. It measures 5" at one end at 3" at the other.

I had to go on-line to find someone who was making the tumbler template out of plexiglass....wish I had seen your explanation of the template first. Mine is made using a 4" square....and I have a lot of 5" charms that I'm going to have to waste fabric using.

Gorgeous!!! I love tumbler quilts! I made 2 out of 1930's charms and gave them as Christmas presents. They were my favorite quilts I ever made.

I bought my template from Ebay a little over a year ago from Ebay. I use it with charms and have very little waste. I think it is the same size as Lady T's DH made.

Simplicity is one of my very favorite lines of fabric! Everything I've seen made in these fabrics is gorgeous. Your quilt is no exception, but then ALL of your quilts are beautiful!

That is sooo pretty. I have two packs of Moda Charm packs and have been debating on what to do with them. I think you made up my mind. How large a quilt are you making?

I'm so new at this and am not right now of the mind to get the calculater out. Somebody please do the work for me so I have more time for reading here on the board - LOL! If only I could so easily request someone come do my housework for the same reason. How large a quilt could I make with 2 charm packs. I have not made any quilts other than 2 rag quilts. I make all kinds of table toppers, purses, etc - fast projects. I'm really probably only interested in making a lap quilt - would that be enough?

    Thanks, Pat
