I finally finished my tumbling spools scrap quilt top, after 10 months of effort (with lots of breaks). The pattern is in Patchwork & Stitching vol 8 no 8 and it measures about 73 by 62 inches which is why I had trouble getting far enough away to take a decent photo.

    Happy New Year!

I really like that quilt. Love the colors and the fact that it looks so old.

I have been looking for a spool pattern for awhile now. I really like yours. Is it a magazine or a book? I haven't heard of patchwork and stitching before.

This pattern is from a magazine published in Australia. These spools are really easy to make because they're just a rectangle, a couple of squares and a couple of half square triangles. Easy - no set in seams (too scared to try set in seams yet, but they're on my list, sometime after I attempt hand quilting.)

They're beautiful! It's gorgeous work. For big quilts I stand on a chair to photograph; sometimes I have a kid or my hubby act as "spotter" so I don't fall.
