    Make a regular nine patch block than cut half into both directions, if you have a fabric with bird, flower, etc you want to feature put in the corners of you block those fabrics will not be cut so you can fussy cut your pictures and they will be full size in your quilt. When you piece your block than you can turn it anyway you want with little pieces together of the larger pieces joining. I used lots of colors and just laid it out to keep colors scattered well over the quilt. Hope this helps
