Wendy, I love a tied quilt - the yarn you used makes it look very vintage. I've been using 3 strands of embroidery thread in a square knot to do my tying, but l like the soft, fuzzy look the yarn offers. Lovely quilt, Gorgeous George!

I go by the design of the quilt. Some are just begging to be tied, while some need to be quilted. I have several "utility" quilts that I have been using for over 30 years that were tied. The ties are missing in several places but other than that they get washed usually twice a year and are doing great. I use crochet cotton or pearl cotton to tie.

I think tying the quilt is a personal preference. It is definitely quicker and less expensive. I think your quilt is amazing.
I love it. I have an antique quilt from 1912 that is tied and I love it.

I'm a lover of vintage and like certain ones to look as vintage as possible. I also like the loftier battings (family does also) and the drape of hand-tied. It also has more of the warmth of a "hand-made" piece. I just know I'm doing more of it now simply because i like the looks, the feel, the cost-savings and the fact that i can do it myself! But, i machine quilt too and even send em out on occasion. its all good !!

A great scrappy quilt. Tying ver. quilting, the tying will not last. The threads will break down after
several washings.

The ties can even work loose and come untied. Good luck with this method.
