I think the light looks better but the dark black or purple would not be bad. I just liked the softer look.

they stand out more on the dark but I'm not sure that's good. I really like the feel of them on the light.

The dark background really makes them pop. The light background looks restfult. I like them both.

I prefer the light with the fabrics you show. But the dark looks good, too. Big help I am.

I'm going to go against most people here. I WAY prefer the light background fabric! That's such a beautiful quilt-in-progress. Looking forward to hearing your choice.
