I had an ugly black and gold fabric. I had it for many years because I could not find a place for it. One day I was looking for something to fill in a spot in a wall hanging and that was the perfect piece so I guess everything has a home someplace.

Go all Jinny Beyer and think about the colors--find something that is a "deep dark" of one of the colors (green would be my tendency) and then think about your color wheel--I'd look for a darker orange (since our New color of the year is Pantone's Mango that shouldn't be hard) and a deeper gold color too and use it for a table topper. I'm assuming you have to use it for a challenge?? Otherwise--pass it on to someone else!

I would match some smaller prints to the orange, peach and ivory, cut this into strips and do a 9-patch or other strip type pattern. Look at just the swirls in each of the "flowers". Kinda cool, no?

They look like the butt ends of cut logs from a logging job (ask me why I know....) so I'd be tempted to make a landscape quilt stacking the "logs" in a pile and making a pretty landscape behind and above them.
