you can't really do a burn test because there's nothing you can spare to cut off. however, if you use it as a large center panel, it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's washable. i would still make the borders out of cotton that has been preshrunk, as the panel should be. in fact if there's a doubt in your mind that there's any rayon in there. shrink it 2x.

it's really a great find and would be a beautiful and striking quilt, if not for yourself, then as a gift.

Just do it as a wholecloth quilt. It will be fabulous. I wouldn't cut into it, you'll ruin the design.

That looks a lot like the scarf panels that are sold in import shops. They are usually cotton, but if it has not already been washed, would be likely to shrink, as these fabrics usually have not been preshrunk.

I do think, from the feel of it, that it may have already been washed.
It spoke to me, and whispered in my ear that it should go to be with someone special who really loves it. Soooo, the winner is stewyscrewy!!!

the alternative is to send it t me and i will send you more than $1.00. should i pm my address?

I have one similar from Bali. A friend of mine (who lives there) gave me one and said, it is a scarf / sarong (many uses). I love mine.
