Using up the leftovers from a Day & Night quilt

I posted this on another thread, but it posted all wrong, so will try again, under the picture post. I made a Day & Night lap quilt for one of our daughters for this past Christmas, and have gotten the leftover pieces put into a lap quilt. The first picture is the one that was given to our daughter.

This next one is what I put together from the leftovers and will be given to her husband this next Christmas. I still have to add the batting and backing of Vikings fleece.

Thanks for taking a look. I sure had fun surprising all 3 of our daughters this past Christmas, and also my DH. I also did 2 grandkids graduation quilts. They are my avatar.

That is amazing work, AND I love the fact that you got a whole other quilt from the leftovers! Kudos!

Both are beautiful! So, did you design that great loft for this purpose? LOL I don't have anywhere to photograph a big quilt like that. Next time I have one, I should try the church chior loft.

I can't take credit for that, the loft is at another daughter's home. But it serves a great purpose. Anyone who gets a quilt loves to go to the loft and have their picture taken. I am working on a Dear Jane, so hopefully in 2 years, when I finish that, I will finally make my way to the loft for my picture. lol And the funniest part is that the SIL who gets this quilt, absolutely hates getting his picture taken, so I am hoping that he will agree to the loft pose. We will see.

The second quilt certainly does not look like "leftovers". I am sure that your daughter and SIL will enjoy their matching quilts.

Oh, how thankful we are that you had scraps from the first quilt to make this new one. It is wonderful. Just goes to show that nothing goes to waste in quilting and such beauty can come of left overs... you did a wonderful job.

They are awesome, aren't they?! I like all kinds of left-overs... especially the fabric kind! I know your SIL will be thrilled! You've been a busy little beaver, haven't you? Good for you!

I, too, will be borrowing your loft to use in my quilt pictures... LOL! I used to live in a house with an elevated deck (kind of like a balcony) that was PERFECT for draping quilts off of to photograph but now, I live in a different house & there is NOWHERE to take a decent picture of even a small-ish quilt. Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Very nice. I'm hoping I can at least do as well for the year, since we have nine grandchildren!
