Good for you. It is miserable to put so much work into something and then be put down. Let her have her store bought junk. Your work buddy deserved the love you gave...

How hurtful can a person be.....I actually resent "Bridal & Shower Registries".....due to the fact of the situation you just faced. I am so glad to hear that precious quilt found an appreciative recipient. For it is truly lovely and a "one-of-a-kind".

Where is etiquette these days? I have sent wedding gifts to seven new couples in the past 2 years and have yet to receive a "Thank You" from any of the couples. One invitation even had the written comments of "I know you can't attend, so here is what she needs and where she is registered"......UGH!

Frankly, I had a blast returning 6 of the 7 toasters I received when I married in 1965. Of courser, I did this after I sent "Thank You" cards.

Great quilt. I know the feeling. My dd is the same way, it is not from a highend store or some designer she is not interested.

Unbelievable!
Unfortunately, that's the chance you take when you make a quilt for a gift. Some people just don't appreciate all the time and care that goes into it; glad you found someone who did!

I wish the first recipient knew how many people find her behavior appalling! What an idiot.

I also can't stand registries... I only buy from them if I really don't know the bride/groom at all. This happened recently and I went, like a robot, into Bed Bath and Beyond where they had their registry. The only thing I could get for about $20 (I'm only a casual acquaintance trying to be nice!) was a picture frame they had picked out. So that's what I bought and gave them. I just got her thank you note the other day, and it's so strange to be thanked for buying something SHE PICKED OUT... She complimented my choice and said it made their home more homey. She was actually complimenting her own choice! I was merely the robot with the money.
