Default Very Scrappy Quilt Top

Hi All, just finished this very scrappy quilt top. I just made a bunch of random blocks then had to build some up to make the rows even. It is made from all my scraps and I kind of wanted to keep it that way, so I am tossed up on if I want a border on it or not. I may have some larger pieces where I could cobble a border together, just haven't looked in my stash bucket. Any opinions?

Shari

A lot of modern quilts don't have any borders. Somehow, not having borders just changes the whole vibe of the quilt. But, with all the variety in this marvelous quilt, if you did decide to add a "small" border, I see one of multiple colors. So, either way is going to be a good choice.

I make picnic quilts out of random blocks and sometimes out of 8 inch squares. I don't bother with borders for picnic quilts.
I love the random colours and the mixture of block designs that you made. Love your quilt. Thank you for sharing.

What a fun quilt with so many varieties of color and design. I bet it was fun to make too. I had to laugh at the kitty. Any fabric put on the floor is just an invitation for any cat or dog it seems, and our dogs aren't an exception, thus a design wall LOL
Love your quilt and would only put a small colorful border or none at all.

You have such a nice collection of fabric scraps in the quilt. I've recently started sewing up scraps into string blocks and just chunks that fit together. I keep thinking "man, you have used a lot of ugly fabric over the years". My hope is that in the end the ugly stuff disappears into the rest. I'd say your quilt gives me hope but I don't see any ugly fabric there. What a great way to use scraps.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am probably going to see if I have enough long scraps to put some sort of border on it. I may use an orphan bedsheet for the backing and binding. I have one flat sheet that doesn't have a matching fitted sheet. The fitted sheet wore out a long time ago.
