I found these hand pieced vintage quilt tops at a local antique store today. The owner sold all three of them to me for $70. I think it was a bargain and I am excited to have them quilted. One of the tops has some staining on it which I have addressed in the main section and asked for cleaning tips. However, I wanted you all to take a look at these little beauties and tell me what you think.

Also, would you back them with a simple muslin and bind with a solid color?

I think you got a great bargain.... interesting to see what other's say about cleaning that one. I might be tempted to just soak it in some cold water with non abrasive soap..

Fantastic finds! $70 for all three is a great price in my opinion. And your backing/binding plan sounds good too.

Awesome find! It would be difficult to find some vintage yardage for the backing, so muslin would probably be the second best option. Though, I do have some vintage yardage, but I don't think it would work with your tops.

All are very pretty, you sure got a great bargain. Good for you.
Yes, I would back them with plain muslin and bind with a color to go with them, or close. To wash them I would spray with shout or something like it and soak for about 5 minutes and agitate just a few minutes, the soaking will soften anything that may be on them and loosen the stains, this is how I wash all my quilts. Good luck and enjoy them.

You bet it is high! We went down to the Ohio River and it is about 6 feet over the flood stage. It is receding now but there is more rain in the forecast. When you feel up to it and want to make a trip to Guhls get in touch with me. You are in my prayers.
    Much love

Wow! Great find at a great price! Either muslin, solids, or vintage-y looking backing.

Jenni, those are gorgeous!! You got such a great deal on them!
Love your ideas about finishing them.
The best product I have ever used on vintage/antique fabrics is Retroclean.

I think the website is retroclean.com but she is also on ebay.
I've used that stuff on a lot of things with great results!
