I have a beautiful address book that the spine broke on. Took it in to a local printers and they did the same thing. Wonderul. I've had it now for about 15 years.

Office Depot did a cookbook for me. It was a very old book (from my college days) that was beginning to fall apart. They cut off the spine and put the spiral at the top. Now it flips like a pad. I love it that way.

I did my Freddy's House book years ago. Love it. Thank you the reminder, I think I have a couple more that I could have done.

Great idea. I have an old Betty Crocker cookbook, the binding has fallen off, Would it take away from the value if I had it rebound with spiral?

IMHO, it depends on what you "value" most. TheBC cookbook that I used in high school and college is still in use at my mom's house. It was a 5-ring binder. Many of the pages were falling out because of torn (used) holes. I found 2 5-ring binders that fit the pages, so I divided the book into two "volumes" and place the pages in the new binders. In our case the recipes and the memories were more important. By the way, I used those little reinforcements to repair the pages. My mother is handicapped and so does well with the smaller volumes. It worked for us.
