I had some gorgeous drapery material that I wanted to use badly. So I paired it up with denim, and made an old blue jeans and drapery quilt top. I also used a thin batting and a flannel backing. My nephew snitched it (with my permission) when he went to college in Northern Michigan. Then he did grad school in Wyoming, and now lives in Colorado. He says I'm not getting my quilt back because he's never had anything so warm, and even takes it on camping trips. I'm afraid I'm going to end up replacing the back before the quilt top ever shows wear! It is a gorgeous quilt.

Yes, I had thick seams, which I pressed open, and then made sure I "zig-zagged" in a nice FMQ pattern across the seams. The light batting "padded" those seams and made them disappear. If I'd known he was going to take it camping, I'd have put something besides flannel on the back. It really attracts dirt! LOL!

You can do a small quilt, just don't use any batting.

A purse or bag would be nice.

stay with squares or rectangles. angles make for a bullky point, and the fabric may ravel some. pretty colors. i am sewing up all my drapery pieces into quilts and lap quilts right now. use fabric of a similar weight for the rest.

Ditto. That border print could be at the botton of the bag.
