I've done some with & without a border!
It's whatever you prefer.
If the size is big enough I'd just do a binding!
Dark blue would frame it.

I wouldn't add a border but I would bind it in red to bring out the red center blocks.

It would look nice with no border and just binding, but perhaps a narrow red border and a little wider dark blue border would really bring out the red in your center block. JMHO.

I would do a 2" skinny dark blue border then a 6" white border with binding in a complimentary colored.

I would add a 1 1/2 - 2" border in a med to dark blue. It's ok if it's not the same fabric, just use one that compliments it. If it were mine I would probably add another 4 1/2" border after that. I love to use a fabric in my outer borders that have most of my colors in it, such as a pretty floral or some other design.

dark blue would make a nice border - maybe 2 1/2 to3 inches.

I think it looks great! Not the point of the thread here - but I would love to see more!

I made a Log Cabin for Jim for Christmas, and it does not have a border. I think it came out okay.

I think it needs a border too. It's very pretty. A nice border would really set it off.
