Here is a picture of the quilt block that I want to make. I am new to quilting and am not confident in this so I need expert opinions. My center square is a purple with greens and yellows (it is hard to see in the pict). So this hasn't been sewn together yet so it isn't too late to change it. My only other idea is to do one star with green and one with purple - but this is what I originally planed.

I like it. The only thing I might change, depending on where and how you are going to use it, is instead of white use a pale yellow that is in the center block.

Those colors look great on my screen. My only suggestion would be to pin the triangles before you sew - to prevent the sides that were cut on the bias from stretching.

Have you seen ShellyQ's beginner tutorials? They are on the second page of Tutorials, accessible from the home page. She has given confidence to a lot of newbies by making the basics simple.

I think it's very pretty. Just be watchful of your seams so you don't end up with lost points. I know lots about lost points!

If you love the colors than that is all that matters. I shy away from too much white as we use our quilts and little fingers and paw prints are not very easy on lots of white. The points can get lost if your not super careful but whats a few points in the long run.. the more you make the better you get..
