Oh no! the urge to get a bernina is hitting me again. Your post has convinced me. Time to start shopping.

I have a Bernina 1020 & 1530 and I love them both. What a really neat cabinet.

Bernina's are work horses - just make sure you oil it regularly - I was told to oil it after each bobbin change.

Bearisgray, you are so right! Sewing is sort of like golfing...give any beat up old golf club to a pro and see what happens! Give any sewing machine to a patient, practiced sewist and that 1/4 seam will just fine! I wouldn't want my Brothers to get their tension in a twist so I'll just say I still really, really like the Bernina!

feline fanatic, the photo is from the Craig's list posting. You're correct about the cabinet: It has a mechanism that lifts and lowers the machine, and a plexiglass insert to snug around the arm, making a flush surface. My Brother 1250D is also recessed into a re-purposed computer desk and it does make a difference. Thanks for your comment.

Beautiful, I love your "wish come true" machine; mine is an Elna from the mid-eighties in a wonderful cabinet--which BTW cost what you gave for your bargain. I could never get that much from my set-up; but that's a moot point 'cause mine isn't for sale. Congratulations--my sister has a Bernina that she loves.....

I love the Bernina Artista 630E that my sweet Hubby bought a few years ago for our anniversary!! Sounds like you got lucky on a really good deal. I also have my DM's Bernina 830 record.....a real workhorse!
