Good afternoon everyone. Decided to wseed flower bed yesterday as grass clumps as tall as day lillies coming up. Now got sore back too. Ah, the perils of getting old. Anyway after hand piecing a couple of blocks together knew I had to find a way to machine stitch. Already knew these blocks were perfectly pieced together and I cut the solid diamonds precise and they fit together just fine. So took a solid color and layed it right sides together to one side of star. Then turned it over and seamed starting with outside point down to center bottom where points of star were joined, stopping 1 stitch before I reached the joined seam. Than I cut thread and turned over to other side of point, starting down at the center again 1 stitch before and seamed up side to outside of star point. Walla, the point layed completely flat. Those oldtimer hand piecers will understand that y seam. Anyhow all sewed and now fun begins laying out blocks mixing all three colors.

It's Sat afternoon and raining what else do you do? I spent several days trying to arrange blocks, in color rows, etc and after consults with quilting Mom, daughter and cousin came to the same conclusion. The red is too predominate so best to mix everything up in random. So then the real fun begin, first sewed rows together horizontal. and then began the y seams all over again to put rows together. Just finished that and thought I would take a break and let you look.

Hi everyone. Well, it's finished. I certainly would not recommend this to anyone who only sews by machine and doesn't have the patience of JOBE. I had to quit several times very frustrated and having to rip out several times and redo. Remember all of the material came from my aunt and it was very unstable. Stretched quite easily and believe it was poly cotton blends. But it now has a home. I hope most of you approve of the final results. Let me know. Now I can rest my hands and then start back on the tablerunner from Stunning Angleplay and look forward to making another block for the BOM stash box exchange.
