Thank you all for the wonderful praises...first of all, this has been put away for 4 years, got it out the other day and sewed the blocks together, really need to finish it... the satin is sewn with 1/2" seam allowances, sewn directly onto foundation squares of cotton that has been prewashed.. I would take these when I did respite care in people's homes and work on them...I really like to embroider so it was a good way to pass the time....

Not only is that beautiful work could you have picked a harder medium to quilt on? You did a marvelous job. Next the velvet one I suppose? I avoid satin and velvet ugh.. and here you surely did not avoid satin at all.

actually, when I was 11 years old, my Grandmother let me help on a velvet quilt, and guess what...she used newspaper for the back, ripped it out after....Paper piecing, almost 50 years ago.. And yes, I am already saving velvet to make a velvet quilt...
