Thanks everyone I am still plodding away slowly on this, I now have 14 blocks done, I haven't worked out my finished size yet, I suppose I will just keep going until I am sick of it LOL

Beautiful, don't know about the hand quilting. The arthritis boys wouldn't allow it on my end.

Me, too! You're off to a fabulous start! And my hat's off to you for the hand piecing. I love to do hand work (applique, needlework) but hand sewing drives me crazy (or would that be "crazier"? LOL!).

That is a perfect pattern for hand piecing and your work and colors are amazing! I shy away from those 60 degree angle patterns when I have to set-in y-seams by machine. I want to hand piece a grandmother's garden. I hope I can use my hands long enough to get that deep into my bucket list!

It is going to be beautiful! I am not drawn to blues but this quilt would be the exception :-).

    Great colors!

Very nice. I like the way you pressed your seams open. It looks good on the white diamonds. It's gonna be a beauty.

I'm right now making star blocks for a GS gift for graudation in 3 yrs., then next yr is his brother & oldest GD, then yr after her sister, then 2 yr break for next GD, 2 yr break for next GD & 2 yrs later baby GD. I just pray I'll still have good health to finish!!!

Beautiful so far! It appears to me that you open your seams, rather than press them to one side. Is this true? I know with machine piecing, I was taught to iron them to one side.
    Go forth and sew!

I usually press my seams to one side too but with these set in diamonds I only stitch to my 1/4"mark and press my seams open and it just seems to sit neater and is easier to sew. I am only winging this, I have never been shown, so I am doing what works for me, I just hope I'm doing it right lol

Looks like a Star Bouquet. Found the pattern in an old "Quilt" magazine twelve years ago!
