Love your work!! What size are the butterfly blocks? Doing a 'solid' between sounds okay. If you do go that way, IMHO it would look cute if you did the outlines of the butterflies in the solid block, when you quilt it.

PS - where did you get the pattern? I love butterflies.

They are 9 inch blocks and I got the pattern from epatternscentral.com called Beautiful Butterflies Wallhanging.

please don't say that. i have the same pattern and i was thinking 96 x 96.
now i'm thinking of the way that elenore burns does it. hers is a different butterfly pattern but it would still work.

I think the plain squares would highlight the butterflies, too. Very lovely butterflys by the way!

There are so many options. My favorite would be plain squares of maybe marbled fabrics to coordinate with butterflies. Seems to me that some plainer squared would accent your butterflies more.

I was thinking that, maybe black blocks with varigated outlines of butterfly. Or white iwth the varigated thread.
