A similar design, but different. I made one that sort of looked like that, but the middle was one block. It showed up the fabric more. When I did it, I fussy cut animals for the middle block. (I made it with animal/wildlife prints.)

Here it is. I just worked it up for you in EQ6. The center block started out 4". The resulting block ended up 11" finished.

So over the quilt looked like this:

. I agree, as a mom and grand mom of twins, different and unique is better. Finish this one and use another pattern for the 2nd twin. And don't even mention that this was your least favorite of the quilts, because the twin who receives this one could then feel slighted!

Ok..Had to diagram my fat quarter out to see what cuts I needed to have to make this square. I think I can do it for the next quilt! The finished block will be about 8 1/4-8 3/8". Same size as the blocks on the current quilt. Thank you SOO much for your help Justflyingin!!!

I'd put a splash of solid brown in there somewhere to break it up a bit. Maybe an extra sashing or something. Gonna be beautiful!!

How about adding a wider border of.... is it yellow and lime green that I see in the fabrics? I think using either of those colors (yellow first choice) as a larger border would really help bring it all more to life.

I agree with finishing it. Most little kids are more in love with the colors and the thought of having something their own. My Grandkids have worn out their earlier quilts so they get better patterns after they grew up to appreciate the work more. Personnaly, I like what you have done.

I like it as is...would just use the chocolate brown for the border/binding to set it all off. And I think justflyingin's idea for a companion quilt will be great! The kids will love them.

To the OP: Speaking as an identical twin, I wanted to assure you that something "similar but not identical" will be absolutely fine with them!
