Default Wish I could call for a redo!!!! :(

I had bought some fabric to make a quilt using the shadow box pattern. Then I decided that maybe it was calling my name to use it for my twin nieces. I thought I'd split up the fat quarters I had into two different color palettes and make two quilts out of them using a pattern I found online that called for 6 fat quarters per quilt. The pattern appealed to me, but after cutting up the fabric and making the squares, I absolutely dislike this pattern for this material. To me...it looks like a jumbled mess of fabric. I added sashing to break it up...but I'm not sure it's helped. I had planned on making two quilts using this pattern, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to make a second "mess".

What do you think? I'm almost embarrassed to finish this quilt much less make a second and to give it to my nieces. (Their gonna be 5.)

i really like the blocks with the blue sashing. if the gray is a sashing, i'd change it to the blue. or is the quilt folded and the gray is the border... in this case i'd change the gray border to the blue and it'll be great. the kids will love them.

I think the gray your talking about are the sheets on the bed where I have the quilt laying. :-P

Do you really think a 5-year-old is going to have your concern about the pattern? She will absolutely love that quilt, and I think you will too when you get it all quilted and bound. There are lots of neat and interesting things in it, and the colors are beautiful.

It makes a lovely turquoise top! The blocks don't show a distinct pattern but still pretty.

I wonder if you could just re-do the middle 4 patch blocks. Maybe use solids or tone on tones with a bit more contrast. I know your nieces will love what you make them. But you also need to be happy with what you make.

I once took a whole quilt apart (100's of triangles). I hated it when it was finished. Little by little, I'm still using up those triangles in other things.

Whatever you decide, will not be right or wrong. Just try to be happy with it. I LOVE the Pattern and the Outer edges of the blocks. I also love the sashing color. Will look forward to seeing what you decide to do.

Agree...go ahead and finish this one. Little girls will love it. If it bothers you too much, use a different pattern for the other one.

I agree, the child will love it and it has a certain charm. But if you are not happy with it, don't do another one like it. Do something different. No reason the quilts have to match. Use the other fabric for a whole different design.
