MamaBear ... "What a great job you did on this. What part of Ontario are you from? Is the orginal a Patty Jones picture? She pictured a few of our family's top animals a few years back. I was raised working with Holsteins and now my son and daughter-in-law have a combined Jersey/Ayshire/Holstein herd. I still am partial to the Holsteins, but they prefer working with the Jerseys (less attitude than the other breeds, lol)."

You bet it's a Patty Jones original !!
We spent a lot of time with Patty and her dogs!

I'll PM you ... as now I'm totally curious as to who your family are? We just may know each other!

Thanks Frau .... yes, I know it's not a for everyone sort of work! Glad you could enjoy it.

It was kind of neat that MamaBear would pick out the original photographer. She's somewhat of a neighbour ... probably lives only a little over an hour away from me! :)

Great job. I'll have to try that on a picture I've been thinking about quilting.

You're awake this morning with all your punny words! With a name like Popcorn, it would seem you came from cow country!! :)

For now, both are at pasture in my family room on walls cornering to each other beside my patio doors, so they can look out in to the bush. I thought it was good to have the original photo there for others to see for comparison. They may do some rotational grazing into my office at times.

Can you tell me how big you enlarged it before you drew the grids?

This is a project I finished this winter. I recognize it's a little different subject matter, and certainly not one for everyone to like.

I started with a photo, enlarged it on a photocopier and drew a 1" grid on it. All the pieces in the pieced version are 1" finished, though each of those might have had several seams if the colours landed that way.

I took it to be stretched as after all this work, I didn't want to learn on this one, and risk ruining it! It's about 24"x27".

For comparison, I'm posting both the original photo and my pieced work.
