What an awesome piece of work! So brave of you & your friend to tackle the unknown. I bet the man is very pleased with it & it should last a long, long time. Since you birthed it, how did you keep the front & back from separating? Did you tack it in places over the quilt somehow? Such a wonderful piece you've made...you should be very, very proud.

The guy was really impressed. When we started it we weren t sure how we would tackle it so just went with it one step at a time. I really wish I could have kept it. We didn`t have to tie it, just the weight of the leather keeps everything in place. WE sewed the batting{store bought blanket with very light batting) then we sewed the back and front...When it was turned all we did was make a top stitch all around and it just falls perfectly.

Quite a handsome quilt. I've just received a Round Robin quilt in our friendship group. The center is a bucking horse. I had a branding iron made with my initials many years ago. Wanted to work that in some how. I think I'll "brand" one leather border. I've also just discovered Tim Latimer. It seems he does a lot of quilting in leather. After the fact, you might be interested in perusing his work.
