It seems like I am the only one who picked up my grandmothers tallent for quilting, or any arts and crafts for that matter. When going home to visit recently my aunt and I found this at the bottom of the closet. I cant wait to bring her with me to AK and get her oiled, cleaned, and up and running. What do you guys think? Its a Heavy Duty Singer 457 Zig Zag. This isnt my sewing machine but this is what she looks like. We even have the carrying case for it! I am super excited. Just researching this thing they are running for up to 215 bucks for her. From what I have found out she was made in the 1930's.

I think it was made in the 50's or later. Nice! Good to have Grandma's machine.

I don't think 1930's machines had reverse or zig zag.
Its a beauty.

Might be im finding some that say 1930s and some that say 1960s. Doesnt really matter what year it was made to me, it has sentimental value and is priceless no matter what.

It is a later 60's machine...but she is a beauty...

Good for you! There are some internet sites for free dating of machines and downloadable Singer manuals. You'll need the serial number. Without a doubt - she's a grand old lady!

I know you'll enjoy sewing on your grandma's machine. Looks like a sturdy workhorse.
