does any one do this would like to learn does any one have any suggestion as to how to do a four patch quilt as you go thanks

I will surf and see if I can find a free pattern for the quilt as you go technique for us

i did a crazy 9 patch sorta that way..

i first made the block. then cut the batting the same size. the backing need to be 2 inches bigger than the block.

i stitched in the ditch after i sandwiched each block..making sure the top was centered. did all the blocks,then joined them together..i did a few like this..

Try this. It shows two different ways of doing it.

I did a Christmas stocking this way. It's in storage, otherwise I'd grab it and take a picture, but I would suggest starting on a small project with the QAYG method. It's time consuming, but a lot of fun. Check with your LQS to see if classes are offered for 'Cotton Theory' - the other term for Quilt as you go.

I tried to do the QAYG - I now have the quilt all connected - but the piece the has to be folded over to create the sashing has been giving me absolute fits. Broken needles and now birds nests.... I'm putting it away until I gather some more patience

The method watterside is showing is different from the methods shown in Kimberly's tutorial.

Also well written, but the final product has a different look.

Check them all out, pick and choose steps from each if it works for you. It's a great technique to know.
