HI, I'm totally new to quilting and have only finished one wall hanging. I'm blown away by the gorgeous fabrics out there and want to buy them even if I don't have a project in mind for them. I know it's called stash building but I may have gone overboard. Does anyone else have this problem?

Many of us have that same problem. Fabric just calls my name. I could make a thousand quilts and still have some left over......

Oh, welcome to my world. You'll like it here...it's simply brimming with folks just like us. LOL

almost EVERYONE on this board suffers from fabric addiction! As long as you have a roof over your head and can feed your children, don't worry about it! However, you should know that the likelihood that you will beat this disease is 0%!!!
And also, Welcome to the board!!! |
It is a gook thing that my fabric story is over one hour away. I have time to talk myself out of gone that way.

There is no such thing as too much fabric.

Agreed! |
I've got it AND.....there's no 12 step program for getting over it!

Heh... I'm the opposite... I feel like I SHOULD be building a stash, but I just cannot bring myself to do it. Just last weekend I was at the store and had an armful of FQs that were on sale. Walked around with those things for about 20 minutes before just putting them back on the shelf. I didn't have a purpose for them, and I just couldn't bring myself to buy them.
I compensate by over-purchasing by half a yard sometimes on fabric I really like. I also save every imaginably useful scrap. It may be some years before I can go "stash shopping," but I'm okay with that. |
