Quilting gadget for removing loose threads
I have heard quilters talk of this gadget...used for removing threads in between quilting layers...I need one...where can I find one...

can you be more specific about how it's supposed to work?
|
I believe it is a kind of eraser end on the new seam ripper. It looks kind of like a little bee hive. You can probably get the same result with a regular eraser.

I guess the phrasing messed me up. I thought of the eraser thingy too, but "between quilting layers" made me think it might be something else. I guess I consider that tool more for a "seamy" purpose, while piecing (or un-piecing) the top;-)

There is a small mustache trimmer that can be used to cut the threads withing the quilt sandwich. Several online sites and a few LQS's do sell them. But they really were made as mustache trimmers. LA'ers seem to love them. I have one but haven't used it yet.

ah! removing stitches. that makes more sense.

From your description, I think you have some threads showing through the quilt top after it has been quilted, and you want to pull them out? Here is one place that sells items for that purpose, but you can use a very fine crochet hook just as easily. http://frederickchill.com/sales_pokenpull.php

Perfect! from her description, that is it! So she did describe her problem concisely ;-)

Check out Fons and Porter's website, I think the seam ripper you are thinking of is sold by them.
