Alternative to Buying Triangle Papers?
 

I have spent a small fortune on buying preprinted triangle papers. Do you have any alternatives to spending $11 each time I want to make them?

Have you tried making copies of them or making a paper template then copy it? If you have a flat bed printer you could cut triangles out of a light color solid that will copy. Lay them out on the copy surface and make your master then copy it.

There are many sites like the one above that have several sizes of free printables. No need to spend $11.

YOu can also purchase Triangulations software. There's an initial investment, but then you can print off any size you need for half square triangles, quarter square triangles and flying geese.

I cut the strip size a bit larger than the Thangles instructions suggest. I lay the Thangle down and make a mark on each end of the diagonal cutting line and the separating cut line. I then draw the lines and then sew the 1/4" seams. Then I cut the cutting lines. No paper to waste and the Thangle can be reused again. Usually I only do scrappy things with Thangles. I use to use coupons at the Tall Mouse craft stores but they went out of business a few years ago.

If you like the paper that is pre printed, then finding the paper and reprinting perfectly or tracing will cost you as much plus your time. If you don't mind different paper then there are free options as the other posts have said.

I just use two sqs. For 2 1/2 in hst use 6 in sqs. For 3 1/2 in use 8 in sqs. Draw an x and sew 1/4 in down each side of lines. Cut in half both ways then on lines. You will have 8 hst and just a small trim up.
I use Quilt in a Days triangle sq up ruler also since it only requires one cut.

I have used Triangulations for years and have been very happy with the results. You can also select what type of paper you want to use to ease the paper removal process.

The paper I like best is the manilla paper drawing tablet available at the dollar store. I'll cut the whole tablet down to fit my printer so the paper is read to go when needed.

For larger HST's, I use the 2 square, diagonal line method.
