I've started making my son's quilt. And I keep asking my self WHY, a 1,000 times(ha-ha) & cussing up a storm. The red part of this quilt, has Y-seams. Not just 1, but 4 for each block. I think, I've kind of mastered the y-seams now. I have a lot of the red sewed together now. Here's where I need everyone opinion. Do I want to sew the blocks together, or put the lt gray marble or dr gray marble sashing strips. I like the lt marble gray for sashing strips. And to everyone that knows about my lucky penny story. My lt weight singer machine, works like new. It only cost me $75.00 for lubrication, and some adjustments here and there 2 blocks togetherWith the lt gray sashing. The dk gray sashing

I like it with the blocks sewn together -- makes a neat pattern where they meet up. If you are going to do sashing because you need the extra width/length, I'd definitely go with the darker grey to provide more contrast. With the medium grey, it just looks too washed out & some of the pattern gets lost.

I like all of them, so I'm no help to you!

Don, I do see a "Y" seam. I would just cut a red rectangle the length and snowball a square light grey on each end and sew it like a HST. It is a very pretty quilt this is going to be. You have a way with match fabric with a pattern. Keep up the excellent work and if you find another featherweight, remember me! :)

You are doing a great job! I really like the dark gray sashing with the blocks.

I like the lt Gray also. This will be a very nice quilt.

Sewn together, the little darker squares almost make an Irish chain effect. I might arrange a few more to see if you like it. I also think the grey strip between them looks nice, completely up to you. It is wonderful that your FW is up and running!

If you used the light gray sashing and added cornerstones it would complete the Irish chain.

Don, judging by the pictures, it's well worth the trouble and your "Y" seems are great! Really like the colors! I like the sashing in the 2nd picture!
