need ideas to keep my foot pedal from traveling
 

I recently read that one thing to do to reduce back strain is to keep your pedal from traveling. Now, I've tried putting a square of shelf grippy liner under it but it did not help at all. Other suggestions? I have laminate flooring and have to admit that I end up with lots of thread under the machine. Has anyone every put a dollop of rubber cement under the pedal to get it to grip the floor? Other ideas?

There are several threads about traveling foot pedals here on QB. There are three that stood out for me, however, I haven't tried any. I don't think there was a picture, but someone put a board (2x4?) across the back legs of sewing machine cabinet to keep it from getting pushed back behind the cabinet. My sewing machine sits on an old dining table. My husband made a 3-sided wooden box that just fits it. The box is screwed onto one of the table legs. That pedal goes nowhere!

I heard recently to use a mouse pad under the pedal. Haven't tried it but I'm sure you have one to test.

Years ago I read to turn the pedal around back to front. I was using a machine with a foot pedal at the time, tried it, and it worked.

Depending on the machine that you have, my Janome I have turned the pedal upside down. Do you have a sewing room so the machine is kept in one place? You could put velcro on the pedal and the opposite piece on the floor.

I am fortunate to have a sewing cabinet. I use a pool noodle behind my pedal and it rests against the sewing cabinet and it keeps the pedal right where I need it.

I can't remember the name of it, I call it tacky, but it's the sticky clay like stuff you can use to stick posters to the wall. I love this stuff, it doesn't stain and just peels off when you take something off the wall or floor as the case may be. Just stick a piece about the size of a quarter on the bottom of the foot feed, position it where you want it and press down. It won't walk away and comes up with just a little tug if you decide to move it.

I have a empty storage box that fits between my foot pedal (turned around) and the wall so it stays put.
