I hope this is the correct place to post this

PIONEER SAMPLER for Adoptees
This sampler is taken from Pioneer BOM 2009 Quiltingboard.com. We will work from January through December. Our goal is one block per week. Don’t worry if you fall behind, this is more of an exercise to learn techniques. If at any time you have a question you can either post it here on the board or PM me.
First we are going to check our seam allowance
Cut three strips 1.5 x 4 sew lengths together, set seams and press with all seams going in the same direction
Measure, should be 3.5 x 4

TIP #1 Once you have established your true scant ¼ inch, put a piece of mole skin or the new purple strips on the bed of your machine as close to the needle as you can without interfering with the bobbin case (set in bobbins).
TIP #2 When sewing long strips together, to keep length from getting wavy; first set seam on wrong side of fabric; lay length hanging down in front of ironing board, with tip of iron press to the darkest side.

Getting ready to make your blocks; I prefer to prewash my fabrics, it is a personal choice. Print out directions from BOM 2009,
TIP #3 Take a piece of paper, fold lengthwise in thirds; now fold in half and half again. Label each of the twelve blocks either by Month or Block 1,2 etc. Under each block number pieces of different fabrics required. Cut a snippet of fabric and using glue stick, stapler or scotch tape, paste corresponding fabric in place.
Chose your fabrics for block one (January), at the bottom of the directions it will give you cutting directions. NOTE; I NEVER CUT 7/8 I ALWAYS ROUND UP TO A FULL INCH AND TRIM SQUARE ONCE I HAVE PIECED IT.

Anytime you have any questions please contact me; either PM or if you have my email address.
I have block One cut out, will put it together tomorrow.
I cut my squares 4 1/4 and layered light on top of dark and drew line corner to corner to make 4 triangle squares.

I really want to do this with you. I can't promise to get one done a week, but I will sure try. This will be fun and maybe it will motivate me.

Thanks, brushandthimble.

They are your blocks to do with as you chose. I am hoping that any newbies will gain some confidence and tips to make the job easier.

Please post your blocks when finished.

If anyone would like me to post how I am cutting each block I would be happy to. I usually read the directions and change to what works for me.

Welcome to my Adopted daughters and anyone else who would like to join in.

Can someone post the fabric requirements? I am buying the book but it still hasn't gotten here and I want to order my fabric ASAP so I can start as soon as it gets here.
