Ok another ???.. Do you all always hand sew your bindings? I have stitched many of mine as they seem to hold together better. Of course the hand-stitched looks so much nicer. In most of mags I see lately, they're just recommending the hand-stitching? Is this what you all do?
If it's a quilt for my kids, I generally use backing fabric and pull over to top and stitch to top as binding (easy-peasy and fairly bullet proof)... Any thoughts? Leigh |
Hi Leigh, I use machine finish binding if the quilt is for charity or if it is for hard use such as kids! Otherwise I hand stitch to the backside, it looks so much better. :-D

I machine stitch on the front and turn over to the back and hand sew that part.
|
For utility quilts I machine sew the binding front and back. For my nicer quilts I finish the binding by hand sewing.

i machine stitch all of mine using some of the fancy stitches
|
I also sew it on the machine first and then turn it and hand sew on the back.
|
Machine sew the front but hand sew the backs on all my quilting projects.
