Frequently used abbreviations?

Frequently used abbreviations?
I am learning so much from this site, and I am not sure that this is the correct area for this question, but I occasionally am stumped by abbreviations. Is there a frequently used abbreviations list?
I would be happy to post this as question to the community, but I imagine it has been asked and answered previously.

I try to keep abbr. way down. I have enough in real estate to deal with such as RESPA, NAR, TAR etc. and much more. I ask my son often about the text and FB acronyms. Could not figure out what 'smh' meant.

Here's a list I put together .... that might be helpful.
I welcome any additions, that I will add to a list I'll post in the future.

Hope this can help you thru the alphabet soup mystery!!!!!!!
(or should that be misery??)
Tartan ... the list used to have a sticky that made it easy-to-find, but I see it has been removed.

Bless you all! As a beginner quilter I often feel I am taking the long way around a project, and this website has directed me to great solutions. But not having to stop and Google an abbreviation every time helps! Also, some abbreviations have multiple references, some of which have not been G rated. Good heavens, the things I have learned while learning to quilt!
Because of the auto correct on my tablet I tend not to use abbreviations.
Again thank you all!

I agree with the overuse of abbreaviated words. I think people use too many. It's a shame that most Americans can't forma a proper sentence, and now we are shortening our words down to nothing... I guess that's another bad habit we can attribute to the use of cells phones and texting... I still thank it's a shame.
