Has the board Changed?
#11
When you click on the link provided in the email you are taken to a page that only lists an arbitrary number of the busiest threads from the 24 hours preceding the time the system sent you the email.
because so many people rely on the emailed link ...
because so many people do not venture past that list ...
those become the threads most often viewed, so ...
those become the threads that get the most comments, so ...
those remain the busiest threads, so ...
a lot of them show up in the digest more than one day in a row.
the emails are only intended to serve as a gateway.
the digests are not - have never been - and cannot ever be - a substitute for "the full board experience."
They are rarely the newest threads and barely scratch the surface of all that's available here.
If you know you want to come to the board often, the emails are a waste of time.
they slow you down.
why wait for an email?
You never need those emails to connect to the board.
Just come straight to http://www.quiltingboard.com
If you like starting with the sample list of links, go to the Resources tab.
Make sure to keep exploring, though, so you don't miss any of the good stuff. :-) The Archive link leads to lists of threads in reverse order - newest first.
The Home tab is the starting point to get to everything.
You can add it to your browser favorites/bookmarks, put a shortcut on your desktop, or (if you are a total QB junkie like me) you can make it your home page.
Try using the direct route.
You might find you like it better. :-)

P.S.
i never use the digest, so i need clarification of one point before i decide whether to contact the techs.
do i understand correctly that clicking on one of the sample links used to open that thread in a new tab or window?

What about going directly to:
www.quilltingboard.com ???
it seems to be a no-muss, no-fuss way of accessing the forum?
My computer know the way so well, that all I have to type in is "qu" - and it fills in the rest.

I contacted Patrice early yesterdat AM. Have not heard from her yet....now I see where her mail box is full from readers contacting her....I also sent a note directly, but it is the weekend....just give them time. BTW THE PROBLEM IS NOT OUR PROVIDER OR SERVER.

Today the e-mail link is operating as it usually does. Thank you Patrice for your explanation. I get the daily e-mail notification which normally sends me into "Resources" which I usually read first. Then I go to "Whats new". If my experience with the QB was any richer I wouldn't have any time to quilt. I want to thank all the moderators that give so freely of their time and help to make this site so fantastic.

I've been on here about two years, and access the site with the Daily Digest usually. Now when I go there the background does not load, and it does not open a new window when I click on a thread.
Has the site changed, or should I figure out what I did to my laptop settings? I checked my user settings, and they are still set to "default".

Everything is back to normal here too. Must have been some temporary glitch.
Yes, when I click on any topic it opens in a new window. I close it and I'm back at the main page.
They day I posted my question it was not working that way. That day if I closed a topic I was off the board totally and had to type in the url to get back to it, or click the email link.
