Default posting pictures with the new format question

OK, I've tried to post and attach a picture. I kept running into a "need a key" in order to post one. Can anyone help me with this? Do I have to compress it? Not sure I know how to do that, but probably can figure that out. But confused about the "key" business. Thanks!

I haven't had this problem. Are you clicking on the little square with the mountains first? (says 'image' if you hover over). Then you can select the pic from your computer. I don't know anything about directly from a phone or ipad etc.
A good size is about 460x600,

i don't know what the "need a key" error is.
i have never heard of it.

try following the directions in the image upload guide posted at the top of the QB Help Center.

this is not the icon for uploading images and other files.
the little mountains require a URL and don't offer an upload option.
we don't allow images that are linked to an offsite storage location.
images must be uploaded.

use the paper clip.

The instructions for posting images can be found at Including Images and Attachments (as of 24 Jan 2020) The pictures will probably need to be reduced in size, as from my understanding, the size listed (5 MB) won't work.

so tried again using the directions Patrice provided link to--copied them off and went step by step--I get as far as clicking on paper clip, downloading my jpg file and it shows up at the top of the manage attachments screen, but then when I hit the download button--nada! It sends me to a link for administration that doesn't exist. What size exactly does a picture need to be? Can I simply resize the pictures like previously OR does it have to be put into a zip file so only thumbnail shows with post? Thank you in advance--can't help but think others struggling with this too as the number of pictures being posted daily seems to have declined since changes.

as noted in the guide, the size limits on the list are apparently incorrect.
i know one person who has been able to upload an image file as large as 1.2MB, but anything larger will probably fail.

zip files are not the answer.

we need to compress our images so they take up less storage space.
i have always compressed mine to not more than 1MB.
that way people with slow internet don't have to wait forever for the photo to load.

if you google "compress photos" you will get a lot of free and easy options for doing that.
i tested this one and thought it pretty easy.

All I can post are tiny thumbnails. And I can hardly see other people's thumbnails on here. Is there any hope for being able to post full size pics like we did on the old site? It made the QB experience much more enjoyable.
