Email notification on Thread replies/new Threads
First let me thank Patrice & all moderators & Tech staff for having to deal with all the complaints coming your way.
Great job everyone in helping us all get over this learning hump. Question is, will we still get automatic e-mail notifications on posts we have answered too, e.g. Christmas Ornament Swap, if not can we & how do we do it. Thanks Smiles |
Email notification on Thread replies/new Threads
This includes Threads you have started and Threads you have replied to.
In order to receive Email notifications you have two choices: 1. to receive notifications for all Threads you start or post a reply to, specify Email notifications in General Settings/Messaging and Notification/Default Thread Subscription Mode. Use the drop down menu to specify how to be notified 2. to receive notifications on only a few choice ones, you must Subscribe to the Thread by using Thread Tools at the top/beginning of the thread and then specify what type of notification you want from the menu that pops up there. |
The problem that I've encountered is that you have two choices for email notifications - never get notified if a thread is updated or get notified every single time it is updated. It would be nice to have the option we used to have, where we got notified only the first time it was updated after our viewing. The new notification does tell you who commented on the thread (nice to know) and gives a little bit of their comment. But I think the old way was far superior. Maybe that's a possibility for later enhancement?

Not getting notifications
Why am I not getting any notifications in my email from threads that I have been following?
|
Question
This might have been posted already - but - do we still get email notifications when there is a new post? I don't think I've been getting them.
|
I don't know because I didn't get any and am having a hard time, it took me 2 hours just to finally get in
|
Me neither!!!!
|
:oDid you subscribe to the thread?
|
Yes we used to get them automatically unless we clicked 'do not watch' but now we have to subscribe. It will take me some time to remember it.
|
What do you mean by subscribe?
|
If you want to subscribe to this topic, go up to Thread Tools above the first post and click, then choose Subscribe to this thread.
|
No issues here
|
When you post a new thread, towards the bottom of the page after you have typed everything there is a box that says Subscription. You can mark it and then mark how you want the notifications.

email notifications
I use to get an email when someone posted to the quilt swap page and since the new QB I don't get them anymore. I am signed up for the newsletter.

This link should take you to PatriceJ's thread with a pdf that will explain it. You need to subscribe to the thread and mark notificaitons through email. Hope this helps. If the link doesn't work you can find it in the QB Help forum. |
Go here, it should help

You go to the Thread tools right above your question on the right side and subscribe to it.
|
Thanks sue! I didn't know either !
|
yep this is just to be a bit too much. Never had to subscribe to the thread before. When ever you posted something on that thread then you automatically received the notifications.
|
I think we have five choices. I've opted to receive notifications on a daily basis as opposed to never, every time, or weekly. I'm hoping that works!
|
old 'info' email announcements
in the old format we received our updates via email recognizable by the word 'info'. when you clicked on the link it took you to the subject it referred to. now it's called Quilting Board - to be confused with Quilting Board newsletters - and it gives you every post there ever was on that thread. why not just give the link and let us read the thread for ourselves?
someone said you don't have to mash the carrots. |
I am still very confused, I know I've been in the East snow country but out here in the good old Northwest, I should knwo what I am doing. Not so much on the QB, YET. I'll keep working on it.
|
Ok Sadiemae I did what you said and subscribe to this thread and others but I still am not getting any notifications in my email.
|
? on post reply's
When I receive an e-mail for a reply to a post & click on the link it does not go to the new post & I have to search for it. Is this suppose happen & how to correct it.
Thanks Smiles |
we appreciate your input and will run a test to see whether or not we need to notify the developers.

this is toooooo funny. i'm still waiting for an email to let me know Nancy updated this thread with a reply. i wonder if i'll ever get an email to let me know i updated the update.
also wondering if i set it correctly. LOL LOL LOL |
HAH! the joke's on me. i've been checking the wrong email account!
my links worked, too. :-) |
So far the email notifications seem to working well (I get it daily). But the links aren't on. I have to copy-and-paste to get to the post. What's happening?
|
Looking for my previous posts and/or knowing when someone replys in a post ...
I am sure there is help for this already posted but I can't find it.. the old board would send a notification when someone posted to a thread you are following and I can't find "my topics" ... help?
|
I found it! Under my profile :-)

e-mail reply to new posts
Hi again, posted earlier about e-mail reply's not going to the reply. It corrected itself & now same thing again. Could you have the techs check this out, there have been a few posts with same problem.
Thanks again Smiles |
The new Board Format
I am not getting any E-Mail notifications to new posts to any of the threads I have posted at. Is this something that we no longer get with the new format???
|
Niether have I just notice of private messages.
|
Go to My Account, General Settings, Default Thread Subscriptions drop down box and choose how you want to be notified.....
You can choose instantly, weekly, do not subscribe, or through control panel. Once you set this, you will not have to set each thread you want to subscribe to. Once you respond to a thread it will follow that setting for notifications. |
Notification of responses to posts?
Question for the veteran QBers-how do I get notified when someone responds to a thread I start or to another thread that I have responded to? Thanks for your help.
|
I have been wondering the same thing. I miss the notifications
|
Go into settings at the top of the page and then general settings on the left, you then come to a page to customise your options and notifications is there x
|
When you respond to a msg instead of doing a Quick Reply choose the Go Advanced, you can type your response, then scroll down the page to Subscribe to this Thread there's a box there check that. And in the pull down menu "Control Panel Only" select the send an email. Then proceed to sending your reply.
|
I found that when you leave a response to the post, you will then have to click at the top of the thread "Thread Tools". Then on the little drop down box, click on the "subscribe to this thread..."
Hope this helps, its the only way I have figured out....... |
