Picture issues

I am unable to view pictures included within a post using Firefox 3.6.23. What I see is a box containing a paper clip and the words "Attachments Included". Nothing happened when I clicked on it. I then went and tried the Internet Explorer browser. Then I could see three boxes to click that brought up the pictures. Are we going to have to bring up pictures to see them displayed or will they be displayed automatically. Right now on my computer they are not being displayed within the context of the post but have to be viewed outside of the board. Is there something I need to change on this end? Does one browser work better than another? Ann in TN

This may be a browser issue. You are using an old version of Firefox. The current version is 7.0.1, which I am using. I have no problem with viewing photos. To update your Firefox, click on the help menu, then "about firefox". It will tell you your version and should have a link to update (at least that's how it is on the current version - the older versions may have this elsewhere).

I can't find out how to post a pic onto my blog and no one has given me any suggestions or hints. I have an attachments manager, but that is it.

patricej 11-02-2011 05:02 PM

Creating and editing blog posts is the same as doing it in Threads (Topics).

I recommend you always choose to "Go Advanced". That's where all the goodies are.

Images are inserted in one of two ways: Direct or Thumbnails.

If you want to insert the picture, click on the Image icon. (move your mouse around. each icon will reveal a text identifier.) You can upload the image from your computer or embed a URL.)

To attach thumbnails, click on the Attachments icon. (looks like a paper clip.)

Personally, i prefer to upload the photos from my computer. I find thumbnails annoying and they take extras steps to attach.

How to post a picture

Hi, I'm still struggling with this new format. I posted a reply on a thread I started a few days ago ..... tried to attach a picture but, alas, it didn't show up. And the posting doesn't show up on the main page either. I'm NOT very handy with computers until I really LEARN the changes. Can anyone help me out here?

EmbQuilt 11-03-2011 04:16 AM

When you want to add a picture (at least this is the view I seenon my iPad), you 1) click on POST QUICK REPLY on bottom right. 2) click on GO ADVANCED 3) click on MANAGE ATTACHMENTS 4) browse for your file then click on UPLOAD 5)then click on CLOSE WINDOW 6) click on SUBMIT

nanna-up-north 11-03-2011 04:16 AM

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks.

Is there a way to delete an attachment from my post?

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to delete a picture attachment from one of my posts? The edit button no longer appears on that post.

I've looked and looked...in the attachment folder I don't see a way to delete pictures to even free up storage space.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 11:34 AM

I could be wrong, but I don't think we able to delete photos, and we have 20 minutes to edit.

nance-ell 11-03-2011 11:35 AM

Free up storage space???? You can delete your copy of a photo from your own hard drive to free up space for you, but deleting from the board wouldn't impact you at all. So, is that what you are asking?

Jim's Gem 11-03-2011 11:40 AM

If you need a moderator to delete something for you please PM one of us with the URL

Hi Nancy,
No I was talking about attachments here on the boards, not on my computer. If you go to attachments it shows that we have storage limits on the site. So with being said I thought we'd be able to delete pictures that were no longer necessary. Or in my case wanting to eliminate a picture within the post I made.

Thanks for your response I appreciate your input.

You don't need to delete the photo from your hard drive. I believe simply renaming your photo will do the trick.

Trouble uploading pictures

I'm having trouble uploading one picture. I was always able to load pictures before the change. Just wondering what I might be doing wrong. The size is 4531 KB. Thank you

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 02:18 PM

I have a problem with this also, maybe someone can post exactly how they did it. Or maybe I missed it...;)

pollyjvan9 11-03-2011 03:15 PM

EmbQuilt - this is the clearest answer I have seen so far on the new board. Have been trying for almost an hour to find out how to post a picture. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is the only pic I have been able to put on...my pics are all too big and I don't know how to make them smaller!

Pictures of quilts

What do I click on to see pictures of quilts people post? That's the feature I enjoyed most on the previous site.

quiltingsavta 11-03-2011 05:27 PM

I have gone through the tutorial twice but still nothing. Hope to hear something soon.

MollieSue 11-03-2011 05:46 PM

I'm still having problems.... I watched the little how to video in the Help, and my screen doesn't have all those icons! Anyone know why? I have the one thingy (way-whatever???)checked, that it says you need, under account settings. I click on the 'advanced' and try to upload a photo, and it says upload failed!
Thank you for any help!
Diana :)

barb55 11-03-2011 07:30 PM

How did you do it? Can't find the icons they were talking about. They arn't on this page.

Size of photos to post

Is there a recommended size for photos to be posted to the Board? Does the Board automatically size the pictures for the best viewing?

Just practicing the posting with the new format of the Board.

oksewglad 11-03-2011 09:30 PM

I just posted a picture in my new "Album" and it doesn't show up. I uploaded it from my computer. What have I done wrong, and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

ghostrider 11-03-2011 10:38 PM

The size is extremely large based on the length of time it takes my dial-up to see them once posted...5 to 7 minutes...and the lockups it's caused my system. I now avoid all posts with attachments. :(

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 11:13 PM

If I remember correctly they cannot be over 2mb, but I haven't seen a recommended size. The only one I have posted was 1.25mb.
