Okay I give, I have been trying & trying to put my signature and my little Tinkerbell back but I can't. Can someone give a little info on how to go about this? It would really help.

Not to crazy about the upgrade. Can't find a thing on here.

I think they've turned off this option. Clikc on Settings (top right) then "edit signature" (in the left bar on the settings page). Down at hte bottom is "signature permissions". Mine says:

Can Upload Images for Signature
No
Can Upload Animated GIF for Signature
No

Since everyone has troubles, I think they have this disabled for all of us. No one has answered my question in the main thread, about whether this will be turned back on or not.

Signatures questions

I find it distracting that signatures now appear the same as the text of a post. I did try to change mine in "my profile" but, although it offered me a whole page of colours to change, I could not find how to change the font.

(In any case, what I really want to to change other people's LOL)

Anyone?

Okay - here's what I think is happening (although I'm not a Techie and could be wrong but), your signature when you created it has extension, .png which refers to a Pingback.

When you send a message, your signature setup goes out to find the .png file and expects to receive a "pingback" - in otherwise it recognizes the signature and allows it to load.

If you look at the bottom of this page, you will see posting permissions. On the page I am viewing, it shows me that the Pingbacks are OFF. Hence, my signature file is not receiving the "Pingback" it expects and therefore, will not load.

That, my fellow QB members is what I believe is happening - IMHO

QuiltingVagabond 11-02-2011 03:52 PM

I had to take a crash course on BB code for vBulletin, which is the format for the new forum to get a special signature.

Hope it works!

QuiltingVagabond 11-02-2011 03:54 PM

It did work! Google BB code - it's the [color][FONT][size] stuff that I usually ask my SIL or 6 yr old grandson to help me with.

verna2197 11-02-2011 04:34 PM

another quick question how do we find all of our own postings?

patricej 11-02-2011 05:55 PM

animated signatures - particularly those that blink and flash - were causing serious problems for members with certain vision and neurological conditions.

i know in my heart that nobody here would demand the right to make their friends physically ill just to have a cutesy-wootsie signature.

please accept the change with grace. it's for a good cause.

Linda B 11-02-2011 06:41 PM

What happened to our fancy signatures?

Does anyone know if they will 'return' or if there is something we need to do to get them back? I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's fancy signatures.

I agree - I also find the large "fancy" signatures very distracting. If "space" is such an issue - which I was told is the reason for the 500 PM limit, why aren't they limited to a certain size?

many of the previously acceptable signature styles are not available with this software

cbridges22 11-02-2011 07:58 PM

My signature was not animated or flashing,so how is that causing problems? Cindy Bridges,M.D.

they were fun - any suggestions how to redo so they are acceptable? thanks

debbieumphress 11-03-2011 09:24 AM

Under the rules section, there is a place that says, some blinking and colorful signatures caused some headaches and issues so it has been disabled. You can type or write on but not the fun ones we had.

Profile Signatures

- Keep your signatures to no more than 5 lines total. This will still give you plenty of room for fun and creativity. Blank separating lines are also counted.

- Use plain, black text in a small font (not larger than size 2).
************************************************** *************************Animated signatures - particularly those that blink and flash - were causing serious problems for members with certain vision and neurological conditions. For that reason, we have disabled that option.

- Please accept the change with grace. it's for a good cause. I know in my heart that nobody here would demand the right to make their friends physically ill just to have a cutesy-wootsie signature.

- Profile signatures should not include scriptural quotes or other forms of proselytizing, testifying, and sermonizing. Requests for prayers are permitted only in Members’ Blogs. They are the only overtly religious posts for which we allow exceptions when it's possible and practical.

How do you change settings for your signature??

Hi there, I was wondering if there was a way to change your settings (preferences) for your signature, because I would like my signature to show up in HTML but my signature preferences says that I have "no" for HTML and there is no way to edit or change your signature even, unless I am missing something???? So now, my signature name shows up as a web page, instead of showing up as a nice picture of my name like it did on the other board. GRRRRR!!!

Hi,

I would like to know the same thing, hope someone can help us out.

nance-ell 11-03-2011 12:05 PM

It looks like the preferences for signatures is currently hard coded, not allowing pics, gifs or html. I would imagine that over time, that will be adjusted.

noveltyjunkie 11-03-2011 12:11 PM

Thanks Quilting Vagabond but could you be more specific? I went back into edit signature and inserted BB code around my signature but then I got an error message telling me that the BB code was too long.

In any case, although this may be a work around, I cannot believe that is the only way to do it- I expect that somewhere in this new setup there must be a way to get to a dropdown box where I can chose my font, and size, like I do in word documents?

Anyhow, I would like an official answer, but I guess there are more pressing questions out there at present and I'll have to wait, which is OK for the moment.

Oh fiddlesticks! Every time I try to submit this message the board asks me if I am sure I want to navigate away. This is tiresome. Sigh. Now I am going to copy and navigate away and then I am going to try again. I'll tell ya what-this board is feeling more and more like work every time I give it another try!

A good day to cut some fabric!

noveltyjunkie 11-03-2011 12:13 PM

I have also asked this question over on the Help section, so I hope one of us gets an answer soon.

Joeysnana 11-03-2011 03:25 PM

I'm glad I found this thread. I was just wondering what happened to my signature!

Linda B 11-03-2011 08:22 PM

Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted!

Up North 11-03-2011 08:39 PM

Mine just showed up not sure what I did or didn't do that made it happen.

Lv2sew2011 11-03-2011 08:44 PM

Would like to know if the blinking signatures caused headaches and issues what about this background I can't stay and read to much because makes my eyes blurr and then I get a headache....

Make sure that your message interface settings are set to enhanced and then the font and size options are with the color and other formatting options at the top of the message box. You can preview your changes and then click 'save signature'.

Lady Crafter 11-04-2011 10:38 AM

Why not remove the flashing signatures (inform the owners) and allow others the fun of just having their names show up in different fonts and colors?

noveltyjunkie 11-04-2011 06:28 PM

Thanks ghostrider- I don't know where my message interface setting are- can you tell me please?

Settings right at the top of page and then general settings on left will take you to the right page.

I've just turned off seeing peoples signatures in settings as noticed quite a few today have changed theirs to large coloured writing, very distracting.

noveltyjunkie 11-04-2011 08:23 PM

Thanks twinkle, but I could not find anything there allowing me to set the font etc for my signature. I saw where to switch off other people's signatures though.

BuzzinBumble 11-05-2011 07:36 AM

Have any of you figured out....

1. How you can edit your signature lines in My Profile? I can edit basic info, but can't figure out how to get rid of my old non-working signature line.

2. How some members are able to change the font in their posts? I can only change it in my profile.

3. Why the Pictures category is not showing up in the Quilting Board Daily Digest busiest threads? Every day I check out the digest and am puzzled over why Pictures is left out. I still access it through Home, but I miss it in the digest.

4. How to get the QB to send you emails when new posts are made to a topic you posted in? I liked how the old site did that but then would stop once you stopped looking.

I would ask one of our moderators, but I think they have too much to handle already. Hoping many of you are more up to date with this than I am. Thanks!

-Lara B.

PS - Regarding the font being too small for some of us to read. I read in another post to press your control button down, then press shift and + (the plus sign). Sure enough, that makes it bigger. :D Pressing the minus sign makes it smaller again.

To use different fonts and colors go to

These are my personal settings. you may decide you want different ones but my email settings will get emails for you and my signature settings will get you fancy fonts! Wow Mitch's mom! Thank you for going to so much trouble to help! I am very impressed and will definitely be giving all you wrote a try.

You asked what part of signatures I wanted to delete... The My Live Signatures png file and the animated icon gif files no longer work. I saw Patrice wrote that the board will no longer be doing the animated icons - that the flashing ones were giving some members who suffer health problems trouble. I don't mind at all, I just want to delete the useless lines.
