Help with new board

HELP, PLEASE! Every time I think I have the navigation worked out, I really don't. Can somebody please tell me how to find the "today's only post" for the different categories: Main, Pictures, Links, Tutorials, Chatting, etc. I (before the new format) checked every day so I don't want to get to a category that has 75 pages; I'd rather just go down the page and see which comments I'd like to open.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

P.S. How will I know which category this is going to end up in, if I don't put it in there myself; i.e., where do I look for the answers.

Thanks. I'm trying; but, so far, it's not been very fruitful!

Selena 11-03-2011 11:37 AM

Now they're showing up. Maybe we'll get our signatures back next. Keep your fingers crossed. LOL

hobbykat1955 11-03-2011 11:38 AM

I'm with you...confusing...Click on HOME...is that what you are looking for...I'm just trying myself today...Also is anyone getting emails like we did previously on things we commented on or telling us abt PM's...I've gotten nothing...

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 11:40 AM

The developers are working very hard to make things better. I appreciate everything they are doing...

dunster 11-03-2011 11:59 AM

Settings at the top of the page, then General Settings under My Account on the left side of the page. Go down to thread display options and make sure it's set to "Linear - Oldest First". Be sure to save the changes at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps.

ranger 11-03-2011 12:08 PM

Dunster, thank you soooooo much! You are a lifesaver! I had been into 'Settings' and changed a few things but never did see the thread options. I like the changes to the board but it will take a while to learn to navigate the new system.
Thanks again.

dunster 11-03-2011 12:10 PM

To get to any forum section on the board (e.g., GCC, Pictures, etc.), select HOME from the top left corner and then scroll down to select the forum you want.

quilt1950 11-03-2011 12:11 PM

Me too. I haven't figured out how to just see new posts in just the forums I am interested in.

settings? where the heck is that? i don't even remember where my profile is!

how the heck do you put the smiley in the text box?(edit)

Murphy 11-03-2011 12:23 PM

Setting is in upper right corner. I just learned to do this today as well. See, together we are getting better (smile).

quilt1950 11-03-2011 12:25 PM

Thanks for your votes of confidence, but I don't have all the answers yet!

To subscribe to a forum, start on the "HOME" page. Next to the forum name, about in the middle of the page, is a green circle with a check mark. Hover over that, and you will get the option to subscribe to the forum. Click that. Then you should get a screen with "Notification Options". I'm not sure what those mean exactly, but I selected the daily E-Mail. It hasn't been 24 hours since I did this, so I haven't gotten an E-Mail. Then click on the "Subscribe" box. That should do it.

Now click on Settings, which is at the top of the screen, to the right of your name. On my screen, I first see subscribed threads with new posts. Under these are just the forums I have subscribed to.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to effect "What's New". I haven't figured out how to just see new topics in just the forums I want to follow. If anyone learns a way to do this, please post!

Another confused member. Where do we Bookmark????

damaquilts 11-03-2011 01:06 PM

Ok I am so lost that I forgot what I was going to ask.lol The other help page has 160 pages way too many for me to sit that long and read.
And it talks about a FAQ page and I can't find that.
OH Boy this is going to take some time. wow
Any way I remembered. 1. How do I change something in my profile? I see the one place that says customize but that page to me means not a thing. Its a bunch of letters and numbers.
2.And do we no longer get notifications by email when our questions are answered?

Guess I'm really challenged .... I see my bookmarks in my profile but I can't figure out how to add more bookmarks. I'm going to "go there" again ... hopefully it will become clear. And where are the icons? smiles, frowns, thumbs up and down etc etc ... I saw them yesterday but not today.

salmonsweet 11-03-2011 04:30 PM

Ah that's a big step forward, thank you so much for explaining!

How do I Choose Which Forums I See

On the old board we could change the setting so that only those forums we were interested in appeared when we clicked on "unread topics". There are certain forums that I'm just not interested in, i.e. General Chit Chat. Now all the individual forums appear whenever I click on What's New and I have to wade through a ton more posts.

I've looked under Settings and I can't find where to choose which forum categories I want to see. Please tell me how to do this.

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 06:21 PM

As far as I know, this is not a feature available at this time...

fleurdelisquilts.com 11-03-2011 07:42 PM

How do I find

the topics I've posted? In the old interface, I simply clicked on "My Topics." But I can find that option on the new board. I have a feeling it's here somewhere, but I just don't know where. Thanks, Mary

feffertim 11-03-2011 07:48 PM

Go to my profile (top right) and under the picture of your avatar on the left you can pull up your posts

fleurdelisquilts.com 11-03-2011 07:51 PM

Thanks! It works!

barb55 11-03-2011 08:04 PM

Were are the how to do all this stuff. Cant fine out how you show a picture or any thing. All you do is go around in circlers. You can't find what is posted today all you see is what was a year ago. Why don't they give a how do for all of this?

SueDor 11-04-2011 01:58 AM

Go to Profile, then in the margin press General Setting, fill out that form, especially near the bottom it says Defauflt Age Cut off - change it to what you want ( from last day). Don't forget to save your work.

Questions and suggestions

First of all I want to say I am getting the hang of new board. I do like the cool look. But I do have questions and suggestion.

First- After I have saved a thread I can't go back to the Whats new area by using the back arrow, I have to click on Whats new and try to find the last thread I am on. Is this a glitch? I hope so.

Second- I some times get kicked off without even noticeing until I try to write a message. Is this a glitch?

Third- I do have the forums I want to look at marked, but in the Whats new area, they are all there. Is this going to be fixed.

Fourth- I have noticed that there could be an old posting, but someone posted today, that will show up in Whats new?
That is a pain. Could we have something that we can click off the individual topics after we read them so we don't get them again.

I also don't see any differences with the pinlk and blue enveopes.

I hope these can be fixed.

Thanks!

ccthomas 11-04-2011 04:16 AM

I am having this type problem as well. I have just want to set it up to see "todays" list in each category. I don't want to wade through 2009. I have tried to reset setttings; to thread order but nothing is holding or works. I think I am close but I am stuck.

SueDor 11-04-2011 04:36 AM

P. S. My emails don't have hyperlinks anymore. Its a pain to copy and paste to read a post. Is this a glitch? I hope it will be fixed soon.

Thanks

Thread Display Only

Hi ... as with many of you the change is confusing until we figure it all out. I was wondering if anyone can tell me when they go into the main section to look at everyone's daily posts are you getting messages from way back like years back and not just current? The only way I can get current is to go to the bottom of the page where it says "Thread Display Only" and do the drop down and change the default which is set at 100 days to last day or last 2days in order to get current information. It doesn't stay there I have to reset it everytime I go in for the day. Is there anyway without having to do this manually that it would automatically come up with the most current info? Thank you.

judykay 11-04-2011 05:45 AM

Yes, in fact I just replied to a post from 2006 then after I replied I looked at the date and really felt like an idiot. I edited the post telling the person what I had done.

mhansen6 11-04-2011 05:59 AM

If you want the most recent posts in date order go to the archive section. Scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a brown bar with "archive" on it. Click that. I found this and it is the only thing I am using now.

mermaid 11-04-2011 06:15 AM

I just go to "Home" and the page lists all the categories. I click on the "Main" (where I am now) and it shows a page of postings for today. When I finish with a post, I click "back" which takes me back to the page to select another posting. When I'm finished in Main, I click on Home again to choose another category. Hope this works for you.

judykay 11-04-2011 06:18 AM

This is also the way I do it, however the past few days there have only been a few new posts and the rest are from earlier in the week. Is any one else having this issue? Still trying to find my way around the new site but will not give up (just yet anyway).

joyce888 11-04-2011 06:27 AM

I changed mine to 2 days and still got old S**T!

I've GOT it. Go to the main home page, and you'll see ALL of them listed. There is a little green circle to the right of each ones title. Click on the green circle of the one or ones you want saved to ones you want to look at, and you get the option how to see them. I picked "control panel". Then to see just the ones you "subscribed to", click on "Settings" up top right, and it takes you to your "control panel", and it shows only the ones you picked. Let me know if it works for you!

texpat45 11-04-2011 07:48 AM

Anytime time you make changes on your Settings page, you do need to scroll to the bottom of the page & click the Save Changes button to make your changes permanent. HTH!

SueDor 11-04-2011 08:23 AM

Sorry go to Settings and in the left margin there is My Settings, go down to General Settings Click on that. That will take you to the form.

Thanks.

Ditto - I thought I could do this by having Settings start with 1st message, but it didn't work. HELP!!!

Friend's list? Need help locating it please : )

Hi there everyone..I need help:( I can not find my friend's list anywhere..Does anyone know where I can find it at?

catrancher 11-04-2011 12:47 PM

I did this, but I still see everything. It's time-consuming to have to wade through every stinking post. I would say I'm at least average on the computer. This is not at all intuitive, and there doesn't seem to be any help available.
