Where Is.... questions

I have a blog, called Life Full of Laughter, where I write about my hobbies and so on. I also post lots reviews and giveaways. Many of the are quilting related. Is there somewhere on the boards where I could post links to them so people can enter? Or is it better to just post about them on my Quilting Board blog? Thanks!

Bye,
Lisa

Filtering forums - can we still do it?

Under the previous format, I could filter out forums I didn't want to see. I would not see them on the 'home' page, nor when I went to What's New. (Can you believe that I don't remember what that used to be called? New topics maybe). Can I still do this?

Don't get me wrong, I think all the forums are great. But I just don't have time for a Round Robin, and don't have anything to swap, so I prefer not to see those forums on a daily basis.

Good question--will be wat

"Mark all as read"??

In the "old" forum after viewing the "unread topics" you could choose to mark all topics as read so they would not show up when you viewed that list again. Is there a way with "What's New?" to do that also? It was very handy!

Thanks!

scrapngmom 11-02-2011 01:53 PM

I too would like to know the answer? Trying to figure out what the envelopes look like to see if I have read it or not is just not working for me.

Sadiemae 11-02-2011 01:56 PM

I don't think this feature is available.

Yes, and I don't want to have to scroll down through pages of posts for the few I haven't read!

Where Is.... questions

Like most of you I'm having some challenges and just trying to get some help. Several of the 'stickies' take me to an invalid page.

I can't PM a member to let her know I mailed cash refund. I have 83 messages over the 500 limit. I can't figure out how to just click down the side of the messages I want to delete and delete them all. I can only figure out how to delete them one at a time, by opening the message ... taking way too long. I've already deleted at least 50 messages this way and it is time consuming.

Something about folders? maybe if I put them in a folder and delete the folder? But can't figure out how to do that either.

any suggestions?

catrancher 11-02-2011 03:45 PM

Go to Forum Actions, click mark forums read. They seem to come back on the list with each new reply though. Also, if you're looking at a list of titles, the envelope to the left changes to gray in color when you've read it.

Thanks cat, wondered about that. I knew about the envelopes but didn't want to have to scroll down the whole list repeatedly.

Where in the PNW? I'm in Ridgefield just north of Vancouver, WA.

New Posts

Please, where can I find the daily posts for Chit Chat? I had it and was reading the posts and lost it. I have been navigating the site and going into so many things and forget sometimes how I arrived there. Helppppppppppppppp!

patricej 11-02-2011 05:44 PM

this has always been against the rules.

advertising and self-promotion in posts is forbidden.

members who deliberately ignore those rules are banned as spammers.

What I did was on the page with all the forums, next to the forums is a little green circle that when you hover over it, it says to click it to "su scribe" to that forum. Once subscribed to the ones you want, you go up to settings (next to log off) and in there youll find your list of the subscribed forums. It's not the best solution (read I want the old board back!) but it'll make do.

MissM 11-02-2011 06:09 PM

Try clicking on what's new at the top of the screen.

alikat110 11-02-2011 06:14 PM

You can select a number of pm's, then click on "selscted" at the bottom....then select delete and proceed...

mms61371 11-02-2011 06:18 PM

I been gone for awhile. I come back and I'm lost!

Kitsie 11-02-2011 09:42 PM

Like quilt950 says - I found the little green checks, but I want to "un-subscribe" to the ones I don't want to follow. Anyway you know how to do this? Nothing happens when I click on them. It only asks if I want to subscribe! Tried in my own settings, too but can't seem to make it work.

suggestions welcome!

Also to change the signature, I can do that in my profile but within the QB how do I change the font and color for that? Thanks!

LLWinston44 11-02-2011 10:11 PM

Look up top right. Click settings. There's a world of control in there. You can unsubscribe to both topics, and forums.

quilt1950 11-03-2011 04:25 AM

I've looked at settings, but don't see where to unsubscribe to anything. Can you be more specific please? Thanks.

Nevermind, I figured it out! Thanks for your help.

I did this. But when I open my subscriptions, all I see are the posts that I have previously replied to. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks,

OK, I see that I can unsubscribe to forums that I previously subscribed to. I think I'm getting there. There are several features I really like, like the option to read the first unread post!

I still have forums in the Whats new area that should not be there.

Wow this sounds good. I've looked at settings and tried to figure it out on my own like you did, but haven't been able to. I'd like to be able to filter out forums, like you I was using that feature on the old boards. Is it easy to share the steps you used? If so would you please? Pretty please with a proper golden smiley attached... :)

(Edited to add: woohoo the smiley still works...)

Latest posts to thread listed first...how to change that

When I open a post, the most recent message is displayed at the top. Can I get the original message at the top? I like to see the original message as soon as I open the post, especially when it's a pic.

Thanks.

fayzer 11-03-2011 07:09 AM

Go to messages. There is a box at the top of each day that tells you how many messages are there for that day. Click the box beside the number of messages and a check mark will appear by each message. If you want to save any of those messages, just un-click those. Go to the bottom of the page on the right. Click on Blue box and it will give you the option to delete, file etc.

New topics

is Whats New? taking the place of new topics? If so why am I finding postings started in July listed as new? Do I have to go to each seperate type of topic to see just the New Threads?

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 07:34 AM

You can go to What's New, but there isn't a feature that is the same as Unread Topics.

greensleeves 11-03-2011 07:38 AM

It seems that any time someone responds to a message no matter how old it is it will come up as new. Once I've read a post and not responded I am no longer interested in seeing new posts so find this very distracting and time consuming. One good thing the board could do would be to allow readers to see only posts that they have not read if they so desire. Perhaps some adaptations will be made as reader comments continue to come in. I have tried to set what I want to subscribe to and from how long ago and when I leave and come back the settings are not saved. Perhaps I'm missing a critical step here but don't know where or what it is. I'm waiting to see if adjustments are made for ease of reading and viewing posts.

scraphq 11-03-2011 07:51 AM

Nothing new in What's new! Tires of wading through all the old postings to find something new! Back to sewing, tired of wasting time.

Me too please!! When I go to settings and subscriptions I just see my subscription threads and not a place to pick what forums I want. HELP please! We really appreciate it!

Sadiemae 11-03-2011 09:30 AM

The developers are working on these issues.

My feedback score is missing

Did anyone else lose their feedback scores?

bibliostone 11-03-2011 10:12 AM

It was not listed on my last post. Let's see what happens this time!

gollytwo 11-03-2011 10:16 AM

I can't access it.
The Board gives me a http://www. (whatever) to get to it, but it won't go through
Plus, I can't send PMs because they say my box is too full, although I spent hours this morning bringing it down from the 700s to the 300s.
I guess it's all too new and they have to work out the bugs - but it's very frustrating in the mean trime.

I clicked on the 0 for your Feedback Score and you have one listed.

Yes, second tab on your profile, or just click on the 0 under an avatar photo.
