Well, I have to take both columns for July apart. After I sewed them to each other and got ready to put them on the quilt I discovered I'd forgotten to trim the 62 HSTs for July so columns are too long to fit into quilt...unsewing this afternoon....might be able to get it all together to post a pic sometime this weekend.

July has been fixed and added LOL
Hey all,
I got July fixed and added it to the quilt. Here it is so far. As you can see, July was really hot here with lots of 90s, the darker purple/maroony one was for our 1 day so far that was over 100.

One more round on.. Blue for 90's Magenta for over 100. They are promising more record highs. Sigh...
Made a holiday apron to cool off. Will go to a granddaughter's doll. My doll modeling in my very red kitchen.

August columns added
Hey all,
I've added the August columns to my temp quilt. I'm really surprised that we didn't have any days over 100 degrees in August. That is unusual. We almost always have a few days in both July and August that are that hot. We did have a number of days where the combination of temperature in the mid to high 90s + high humidity created what the weather folks call a "feels like" temp that was over 100 including several that were in the 105+ region. Anyway, here it is as of the end of August.

Thanks gramajo! Do you normally get more hot days in the summer than what you had this year?
It's been a strange summer in terms of temps around here. All those deep red-oranges in July are 90's, then there were only a few for August-- which is when we usually have our hottest weather---instead, we had lots of 80s during the day and nights in the 60s and 70s--that's more like our usual September weather.
My kitchen garden has not liked the weather this year at all--tomatoes didn't produce much in July--too hot. They're just now coming in good. Okra- likes hot weather, but not the cooler nights so while production was good in July, they've not produced much throughout August which is when they usually produce enough that we can freeze some for winter--not this year. Squash got destroyed early on by Squash vine borers- but we expected that. Cukes did okay for a while before the vine borers got them, so we've got plenty of pickles. Bean production has been lower than usual as well. The peppers (bell and hot) and eggplants are the only things that have done really well. However, the collards and beets that we moved into a shady spot for the summer and the Swiss Chard are now starting to rejuvenate, so hopefully it will be a good fall for greens.
