Those are fabulous! I bet they look great when hung as a group with your precipitation quilt!

yes, I know this thread is from 2017 but as best I can find it is the only one on the board about this type of quilt.
I'm at the planning stage for a temperature quilt. I know it will finish 40"X40"-ish, because I'm making new quilts for the loft rail above our living room. (image below, ..they are double sided and all made of leftovers and I'm tired of looking at both sides!

I've gathered temperatures from my birth year, and now gathering from our marriage year for bookend quilts. I think with 20 fat quarters of gradient/ombre fabric I can get two small quilts if I change my key around for the second one. Hope so because the line is discontinued but the fabric is beautiful! I think I've come up with how to get 365 blocks in the given space. 30 wide, 12 long.

Oh Sharyn I like the idea of the birth/marriage bookend quilts! What pattern are you going to use?

I went to the Mt Hood Quilt Guild show "Quilts of the East Wind" back in October. They had a whole display of temperature quilts. The variety and creativity of patterns was amazing.

oh, I would have loved to have seen that. Thank you for sharing the image.
There was just one at the Longview show, but fun to look at.
My plan right now is improv like Elm Street Quilts https://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2022...lt-flimsy.html
Her blocks are 1"x2" I think, mine, to fit the size I want will be 1.3"X3.5" finished on this first one. I've been practicing adding the insert and putting the block back together straight using scrap fabric. Not easy. I'd rather not make big and cut down because my fabric is limited. I think the key is a tiny nip off the pointy end of the piece I'm adding back on, but like tumblers, it seems just right is infinitestable.

I 'think' for the wedding year I'll do a folded corner technique. Less thinking

Would love to see progress on anyone else's temperature quilt!

this is my color layout for my birth year temperatures. I had to change the size configuration of the units to have enough, but I'm just not a go buy more person.
I'm excited, or I will be when I get over my brain's flat tire. It only took me two days of figuring to get to this point...

Everything is cut, and I've made my first week These asymmetrical strips are a booger, but it will be interesting to look at
We had zero lows higher than 60 that year. It is a wonder our gardens grew on the harbor.
