New member and want to play with the temperature quilt. Will use solids and my snow dyed fabric only. Will paper piece with 3 inch hexagons and relations; working from the center out going counter clockwise. White for below 20, then maximum contrast at each ten degree mark, ending with magenta for over 100.

Sounds like fun! I think I'll do it with hst since I've been wanting to improve my piecing skills.

Super excited to see Mnt Grandma's version. I cannot picture it but it sounds dang cool.

I am crazy enough that I also decided to do a daily precipitation quilt along with my daily temperature quilt. The precipitation quilt will be all in shades of solid blue and using white on the days we do not get any precipitation. It will be a different layout than my temperature quilt and I am hoping to get fancy shmancy with my quilting and quilt some rain drops....maybe even an umbrella. EEK!

I think this is what I'm going to do.

Picture this as a calendar with 12 months. The red indicates the day's high temp. The blue is the low temp. The yellow stripe will be "weather" fabric. I've ordered some fabric with raindrops, some with clouds, some with sunshines, and some with snowflakes.

(Yes, my calendar is all "Januaries" (LOL!), but pretend they're the actual months. Any blank spaces will be black fabric.)

I plan to use 3-1/2" squares (3" finished), so by the time I add sashing and borders, it should come out to be about queen-sized. (Hope my math is correct. I need a nap!)

Forgot to mention: I plan to use the following colors.

0-10 degrees - white
11-20 - gray
21-30 - purple
31-40 - blue
41-50 - aqua
51-60 - green
61-70 - yellow
71-80 - orange
81-90 - pink
91-100+ - red

I wish there was a way to make Dresden Plates with each blade representing one day of the month. Well, I'm sure it could be done, but my math is lousy. You'd have to have a 28-blade pattern for February, and 30- and 31-blade patterns for the other months. The name of the month and the year could be embroidered on the plate's center piece. That would make an interesting temperature quilt, I think!

So I have just started playing with EPP and have become addicted. So I want to use paper piecing for this project. I am not sure if I should try to do a HST for highs and lows and make a square for each day. I also thought about half hexagons. I can't figure out the design in my head. I am new to EPP and want to work on becoming better this year, so this is a great way to work on it. I will head to the quilt shop today to get some inspiration on shapes and figure out some semblance of a plan.

My temps for yesterday were high of 50, low of 37.
