Spent the evening "scrap processing". Cut some 5" squares. Made 10 spot in the middle blocks 6.5" and took a bunch of leftover flannels for an improv pieced back. Always astonishes me how much fabric was in those leftover strips from the long arm lady. Work was fairly brainless which is good considering the heat wave we are in.

Think I'm ready for a scrap nickel quilt soon. That's a nice feeling.

I am pleased to announce that I finished a quilt top with no new fabric...sorry to say that none came from stash either. Tshirt quilt top #2 is finished with no added fabrics. I did piece some rail fences/chevrons and four patches from the t shirts which took quite a bit of time. now to get it on the LA and start #3 quilt!

I was stoked...thought I'd get tshirt #2 quilted tonight...get down to the bottom and I'm short on fabric! I think I put the backing fabric the wrong way as I have plenty on the sides...I should've noticed it at the beginning. Oh well have plenty to piece but it's going to be a hassle to do it by hand while rest of quilt is rolled on the LA.

I just did this. Pulled out a stored quilt to FMQ. Rolled the batting and both pieces on their boards. When I started to pin, the backing wasn't wide enough. Ran to the store and purchased more'. When I got to the end, I had enough backing left that I wouldn't have had to buy that yard of fabric. I had it turned the wrong way. Oh, well. I wasn't about to unpin it, so now my binding will be from the leftover. Glad I'm not the only one.

I need to go to a LQS tomorrow when they open. I need some stabilizer for a LA embroidery class project for tomorrow afternoon on zoom. I need to get all of my supplies together tomorrow morning. I have everything else. I’m excited to see how my project turns out. Then towards the end of next week I will be going to the Kansas City Regional quilt festival a couple of days. I’m sure I will increase my stash some. I’m looking for long arm items and thread. I don’t need any fabric, but I expect a few pieces to follow me home. I’m looking forward to going. So the bottom line my UFO will not get done until next week.

I enjoy seeing the completed projects everyone is completing. Such creative use of your stash for the church quilts Connie.

I loaded up my next quilt to be quilted- it is only 57” x 76” so I didn’t want to use one of my queen battings for it so I started pulling out left over pieces and pieced a batting for it from scraps. I Just butt the edges together and use a wide zigzag- you can never tell once it’s all quilted. Sometimes I’m just too lazy but I only have 4 packaged battings left and don’t want to waste them on small quilts when I have totes of scraps- pieces cut away after quilting. I also ( although behind) pulled stash fabric to make my next National Quilt Museum BOM block, it’s a quilt as you go project so I’m using smaller pieces of scrap batting for it too. I don’t feel as if My stacks of ufos and projects are diminishing much but I keep trudging along, using what I have and doing what I can.I’m still spread a little thin but I do feel better when I put forth the effort to work on something- even if only for half an hour. I have been enjoying the ( challenge) to find pieces on the shelves- some quite old and making use of them in current projects. I really need to spend a few days just sewing scraps though- the basket is overflowing again.

I've been sort of stalled and lost in a blur of days... Mostly bad physical health and a rougher than normal patch of insomnia so not much to report but that means I haven't added any fabric to my stash either. Some days, we take what we get

Feeling better and ready to start moving again on Aunt Debbie's quilt. That's the plan today anyway and it seems feasible, I think I just need to go reintroduce myself to the project.

I went to the LQS and bought fabric for future embroidery projects. I will play with that later this week.

Yesterday I went to the KC regional quilt show for 6 hours. I did not buy any fabric. I did buy thread, a ruler, a chock board kit that can be made into a quilted wall hanging. I may switch out some of the fabric pieces to make it more my liking. Then I bought a massaging pillow for my quilting room and a lint brush that cleans with soap and water to remove lint and pet hair. No more having to buy tape for the current lint rollers. And that was pretty much it. Basically just had a fun day with my niece.
