2025 UFO Challenge

Oh, wow, @WMUTeach —that’s the kind of quilt I LOVE: not all that complicated, but the colors have a certain coordination but also scrappiness. Gorgeous!
My September UFO #7 might not make it all the way to completion by the 30th, but I had a long way to go with it! I got the top done, and now I’m working on the back. Making progress!

Yeah, Quossum! Progress is good when working with UFO's I know not every UFO can be finished in one month even when we try our hardest. We do have other things on our plate and sometimes they take priority. Things like enjoying a fine fall day, canning those tomatoes, enjoying that mug of tea, watching the fog burn off in the morning or making a quilt out of 2.5" squares. Press on everyone and remember................ the month is not over yet.

Working on getting the binding on a baby quilt UFO today. I want it to count as my little extra for September! Stitch, stitch, stitch! It only took a couple of hours to quilt. Why do we wait so long when it could only take a short time to finish. Shaking my head in consternation.
Scurry, scurry UFO quilters the clock is ticking on the month of September. Can you finish? If not, move it to October and we will celebrate with you by raising a cup of tea or cocoa or coffee and slice of pumpkin bread.

Yeah, I did it. I got an extra UFO finished. Yup, it is a small one, 41 x 44, but done is done. All from stash and the top is primarily from scraps from another baby quilt. The fabric had charming Noah's Ark border print/row print with pairs of forest animals in alternating rows. I used all of the arks as centers for blocks along with some of the animal rows for a previous quilt but just could not get rid of all of these remaining rows. Add some grunge and some off white tiny dots and Ta-Da another quilt for Project Linus!
Now I can take a big breathe and look ahead to another UFO a week or two from now.

I'm happy to say I was able to finish my Allitaire queen size quilt today to make my September entry. Just finished the binding at 6pm tonight. Photos to follow, too tired to hang it up to photograph it tonight. My sister is grabbing this quilt off my rack for herself. All custom quilted. To think it only took 10 years from start to finish on this one. OUCH!!!

I'm happy to say I was able to finish my Allitaire, binding included by 6pm last night so it will go for my September UFO finish. I started this quilt back in 2015 when the mystery came out and then put it aside once I had it together. Then my sister saw it and decided she wanted it but it took until this last month for my to finally have time to finish it. I custom quilted it using 4 different threads. I'm very happy how well it came out but I have a feeling I made this quilt back before I started starching and pressing my fabrics as I noticed some of the rust colored fabrics bled onto the creme colored fabrics. I told my sister when she goes to wash it for the first time to definitely use a color catcher.
This will make my 12th finish for the yea
I'm including closeup photos to show the quilting and then the backing which I just happened to have on hand so I didn't have to buy anything for this quilt since I used mostly scraps for the front and the backing I must have ordered for another quilt and then never used it. Just barely had enough as this quilt came out at 91.5 x 105.5

Beautiful work, Snooze. So much work on your quilting. Woozers on having 12 finishes this year. Better yet, there are three months to go! I have finished 10 and gave away another because I just... did not want to quilt it or finish it. To Goodwill it went and someone will love it or chop it up and create something new.
Lena, it looks like hand quilting to me. No wonder it took some additional time, but the results are warm, cozy and befitting the pattern. Good for you and your finish!
Loving all of the photos of finishes for this year. We are doing serious damage to our UFO piles! A couple of days ago I looked at my 2025 list and decided that some are "not going to happen this year" so I have already started my list for 2026. No worries, I have plenty of others to work on for the rest of 2025. The more I clean up the more UFOs that keep bubbling to the surface! How does that happen!
See you all later in October.

WMUTeach, yes my September finish was hand quilted but using big stitch quilting. If I had to hand quilt traditionally, this quilt would not have been finished for another 31 years! LOL
It’s grand to see so many finishes this year. I’ve already started my list for next year and have gathered tops, backs and binding together to make my life easier when it comes crunch time. I can honestly say, having my next year’s group ready, that it kept me motivated this past month and for October as well. There is simply no room in the box to add back in something I didn't finish this year.

Six days late, but I finished my September UFO! I call it “Licorice Strings.”
Dark strings, the Wonder-Cut Ruler, and a scrappy lasagna backing!
Congrats to everyone else who achieved their September goal; I see some marvelous quilts—time to go back and look at the entries in more detail. I’ve been forcing myself to avoid this thread until I could post my own finish as well! Also assuming I’ll find the next number; I’ll clean up from this project and get the next one started—I’m already 6 days behind!
