Beautiful and inspiring. I see that the modern art quilt often has innovative machine quilting. This is not something I can do well, so I really enjoy seeing it used in the design.

I adore This!!!! It is great! I would just have to add more to the trees too. And in my case I would be fooling around with some colored metallics as well as some of those shinier embroidery threads.

Can't wait to see how you finish it up.

i am doing one more swap and i thought i would share the info in case anyone here would like to come play! it's a pincushion/ needle case swap. you can choose to do one or both, and you can have up to 4 secret swap partners. doesn't that sound like fun!? i'm doing one of each and that's all, because i'm taking time to do the stuff that's been sitting around and waiting for me to come back and finish. AND, olivia will be 2 in august (3rd) and i need to make her 2 yr old quilt and birthday dress. lots to do and instead i'm here on board yakking and reading with my friends.lol (but true)

Thanks for the input. I'd not even thought of colored metallics. That's 2 votes for more trees + mine-more trees it is.

Default Finished My Class, Here Are My Quilts

I finished my quiltuniversity class and did four small quilts in the process. I have already posted one of them (the purple and green one.) Now here are the rest of them. The last one, with the irises, is going to have more irises added to it in the boxes today.

I really enjoyed making these quilts. They are all in the 18'x22" range in size and are made from hand dyed or screen printed fabric. The grey quilt has a little slhibori in it and the irises are drawn in with inktense pencils. The line quilt I hand painted with thickened dye.

Lovely work jb! Isn't it satisfying?!
Urge all to look online at art made by El Anatsui. Totally amazing. Looks like modern quilting/tapestry until you take a close look.
Went w my Bee to see this, a great quilt show, and yummy dinner in Brooklyn!!

Which class(es) did you take? I've got one coming up with Elizabeth Barton. I think it's called Dyeing to Design, or something similar. I'm also going to a quilt art retreat put on by Katie Pasquini-Masopust in Colorado in April to take a shibori dyeing and design class for 5 days. I won a scholarship to it! Nancy Crow will also be there.

I took the Dyeing to Design class and did all 4 of them. You have the opportunity to do a total of 5 small quilts in the class. It is a great class.

Petthefabric, I'm one of those people that doesn't know a lot about art, but I know what I like--and this I LOVE. I read Nancia's comment and am sorry to disagree with her. I hope you put a red and purple binding on your lovely piece.
