Been in my studio for a few days and will have something to show for it soon. You guys have been showing off meantime.

Nancia those flowers are gorgeous and do really mean there is going to be some new life and continuance. Thanks for those. And the shot of your 'rescued one'. What a sweetie she is.

And Dotty I just love the piece you posted! I assume there was a lot of ink going on fabric and painting before the piecing and applique? Or were those found fabrics that worked (In the buildings espec) I absolutely adore it. So many emblems of the past, the future, and our striving towards a culture that will work long term. Yep, love it!

Hey Linda! I can tell just from your ID photo you are 'one of us'. Come on out and experiment and play. Here failure is a very real option and sharing that is cathartic and helps you grow. Throw something on the wall and see what you get.... we'd love to see it.

brat- you are the most dlightful bright purple with sunshiney yellow violet ever!! maybe way deep inside you are shy like i am. but being friendly and assertive means we are in control of the encounter. yes, we over-compensate. soooo glad you're here. what are we going to do today? we are going to take over the world!! rotflmao
right now i am busy playing catch up, and trying to make another mug hug. it is being VERY recalcitrant! (brat--passe') i may just switch gears and come back to that one later. whatever i come up with i will post as it's the closest thing to art i've got going.
oooooo, i wanted to tell you! dh is out of town so i stopped by my sewing machine store and picked up a brother 7050 embroidery machine! happy birthday, anniversary, mother's day and dh's birthday to me!! i just love a little mischief now and again!

All is fabric collage, no paint. I collect NYC fabric and make a lot of these little pieces. This one features Sulky invisible thread and it is ...sulky. Have to try another brand!

dottie-- i haven't tried any of the invisibles, but i have had great success with the coats and clark metallic ( from w/m). i was shocked that it sewed beautifully, didn't have or cause any issues with my machine. color me pink for tickled!!

Default April Challenge

Here is my April challenge. I didn't follow the rules too closely. I used an iris as my flower when the quiz said to use a daffodil. I like irises better. And i couldn't find a way to add a found object. I auditioned many pieces but nothing seemed to work. The 1st image is my practice piece of intense pencil on my hand dyed yellow fabric and the 2nd image is the quilt, which is the hand dyed yellow fabric with a blue "trellis" silk screened over it then the irises drawn in with the inktense pencils. I had a great time doing this quilt.

The practice irises are the same size as the ireses in the center of the quilt sorry for the scale of the pictures.
