So... are all the center blocks 8" squares, surrounded by the star parts that make it into a 12" block?

Well I got my second block done today. I have been using fabrics I have on hand and not worrying about civil war prints. Bonnie, center is 6 1/2" unfinished. Block is 12 1/2 unfinished. On both 1 & 2 blocks.

Christine, I haven't started on my alter. blocks. I need more neutrals . I guess I will do them as I go once I get the neutrals. The last quilt I waited and did all the 9 patch blocks last. I was so bored making them by the end.

    Hi everyone!
So, this will be my first BOW... I'm usually more focused on the UFO Challenge and the Fabric Moratorium Challenge. I have been so SLACK on the UFO thread lately... but have done very well on the Moratorium... until last week, that is.

Christine and Mary, your blocks are just BEAUTIFUL!!

And LadyinPurple, you probably aren't too terribly far from me... I work in Charlotte, so perhaps we can get together sometime. We could go on our own little "Shop Hop" if you like.

And the comment about Civil War repro or not... well, I have a nice little stash of those... as well as the 1930's repro's... I may just do this in both colorways (I'm such a glutton for punishment! )

Hopefully, I'll get in soon enough to get the first block. If not, 99 cents is not going to break the bank. Now, I need to check my email and see if it's come in yet.

I'm glad I found this(still finding my way around the board). I have downloaded everything, but still not sure about fabrics. In the mean time I'll follow along on this thread. I'm liking what you ladies are producing so far! Are you using the same fabrics for your alternate blocks as the background of the star blocks?

Glad to see some new people and some of the regulars. Letawellman, My son is a well digger. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your screenname. Or maybe your real name is Leta Wellman, anyway welcome too. lol Jaiade I just today ordered several neutrals and am going to use them for the alter. blocks. I usually just pick a color similar to what the pattern calls for my blocks. I'm not crazy about pink so I usually use a mauve color, etc. The last 2 quilts done from this same site a lot of people used other colors completely different and they turned out so pretty. Just please show us your blocks we all love to see them. .

LetWellman - I know exactly where you are in SC. I totaled my sweet Acura RSX Type S on i85 almost 5 years ago right about there!!!! Anyway, it's cool to find someone close. A visit together would be fun - maybe lunch? I live about 30 miles or so up I77 from Charlotte. One of these days maybe I'll even get this project started!!!!!

Oh, it's so cute to read the chat here. I fell behind on the R&R, and I ought to get back to it before I start something new. I like the look of this pattern better than the R&R. I like the R&R name better than Autumn Evenings though. lolol
